The Oscar nominations for the 92nd Academy Awards (2020) were announced on January 15th, 2020, and aired tonight on ABC as part of the network’s long-term agreement with the Academy.

Bong Joon-ho’s searing social commentary ‘Parasite’ created history at the Academy Awards; it became the first-ever non-English language film to win the Best Picture Academy Award, beating favorites like 1917 & The Irishman. Bong Joon-ho won the Best Director as well.

It becomes the first Asian film ever to win the Best Original Screenplay Award at Oscar and the first Korean Film to win an Oscar.
