Cannes 2019 Lineup Announcement Live

The 72nd Edition of the Cannes Film Festival is underway. While the official poster filled every single fan of Agnes Varda in tears, it is the Cannes Lineup that everyone looks forward to. For cinephiles across the world, the announcement of the Cannes 2019 lineup is no less than the Academy Award nominations.

The festival has always been a grand showcase for returning directors. It is expected that the new films from Quentin Tarantino, Kelly Reichardt, Terrence Malick, and Bong Joon-ho will make the cut. The lineup announcement will commence at 5am ET and can be streamed on Festival De Cannes’ YouTube, Facebook and Twitter handles. As always, the annoucments will be headlined by the catergories they will be in namely – In Competition, Un Certain Regard, and Midnight Screenings.


Movie lovers are already aware of the fact that indie darling Jim Jarmusch’s star-studded Zombie Comedy – The Dead Don’t Die will be heading to the Cannes this year. It will be one of the rare occasions that a genre film would be opening the festival. The premiere will take place on May 14th and will be Jarmusch’s return after the poetic character drama “Paterson.”

If the odds are right, legendary filmmaker Terrence Malick will be returning to the competition section with “A Hidden Life” after premiering his masterpiece “The Tree Of Life” back in 2011. Also, Quentin Tarantino might just return with his newest film to celebrate 25 years of Pulp Fiction. The announcements are live now:
