How to Watch ‘Children of Corn’?: “Children of the Corn” has become an important part of pop culture since the release of the 1984 film adaptation of Stephen King’s short story. The franchise has since spawned eight sequels and has been referenced in various forms of media, from “South Park” to Eminem and Kendrick Lamar’s music to “Wreck-It Ralph.” The latest addition to the series is a prequel that takes us back to the beginning to explore the origins of the youth-led dystopia and the chaos that ensued.
Written and directed by Kurt Wimmer, known for his work on “Equilibrium,” this new installment isn’t a direct adaptation of King’s original story. Instead, it delves deeper into the mythology behind the children’s uprising. While it’s the eleventh movie in the franchise, it takes a new direction and offers a fresh perspective on the terrifying world of “Children of the Corn.”
Horror fans have always been eager to watch King being adapted to the screen, even if The results are occasionally polarising, like last year’s Mr. Harringan’s Phone and Firestarter. The latest film circles around 12-year-old Eden (Kate Moyer), who is possessed by an evil nature spirit. She is the leader of a legion of deranged children who have been indoctrinated into her sinister mission to please the dark entity by slaughtering all the adults in their small Nebraska town and anyone else who opposes her.
The only teen immune to Eden’s influence is Boleyn Williams (Elena Kampouris). With the fate of the town hanging in the balance, Boleyn may be the only hope for stopping Eden and preventing a catastrophic outcome.
