How To Watch The Amazing Maurice?: Don’t we all love ginger cats and their cunning? Toby Genkel has directed this animated film Amazing Maurice. Obviously, this animated film is about a streetwise ginger cat who leads a group of talking rats conning town after town. The film stars Hugh Laurie, Emilia Clarke, David Thewlis, Himesh Patel, and Gemma Arterton, among others.
Based on a novel by Terry Pratchett, this movie follows the life of a ginger cat named Maurice who makes a living out of scamming townspeople with the help of a few talking rats. He makes the rats terrorize the townspeople and then introduces them to a Pied Piper, leading them out of the town for money.
This whole facade goes on until they meet a nerdy woman named Malicia, the daughter of the mayor of the next town they plan to raid. Everything was planned, but as they arrive, it dawns upon them that something is wrong with the town. There are no rats there, but something or someone is still eating away the supplies and hence start their adventure.
The film has garnered positive reviews from critics. With 76% of 35 critic reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. The film is described as “You may not necessarily need to rush out and see it right meow, but The Amazing Maurice is a solid book adaptation that makes for fun family viewing.”

The film has a great ensemble of artists lending their voices. Hugh Laurie as Maurice is delightful to watch. Also the much beloved Emilia Clarke as Malicia and Himesh Patel as Keith. Some of the others starring are Gemma Arterton, Hugh Bonneville, David Tennant, Rob Brydon, Julie Atherton, and Joe Sugg.
Is The Amazing Maurice playing in theatres?
The answer to the question is YES! After the Grand Premier at Manchester Animation Festival in November 2022, the film was released in the UK in December. It also premiered at Sundance Film Festival this year, and now it’s playing in US theaters from February 3rd, 2023. One can look up tickets near them on Fandango.
Where can I stream The Amazing Maurice?
As of now, there is no specific announcement as to where one can expect the film. But it is sure that after its 45-day theater run, the film will be available to stream and rent from the comfort of our homes.
