How to Watch Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey?: The latest horror retelling of Winnie-the-Pooh, titled “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey,” is probably something that you didn’t see coming your way. But debutant director Rhys Frake-Waterfield obviously had other plans. The beloved Children’s literature character, which British author A.A.Milne and illustrator E.H.Shepard created, has always been a huge draw. So if you think about it, a modern-day horror spin is not particularly surprising.
In the movie, Christopher Robin (based on A.A. Milne’s son) becomes friends with a group of anthropomorphic creatures- Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, Rabbit, and Owl. But when Christopher grows older, he has to leave his friends to go to college. Without the human boy, the creatures struggle with extreme starvation to the point where four of them end up eating Eeyore. This leads to the group developing a staunch hatred for humankind, including Christopher. When an adult Christopher returns years later with his fiance, he gets haunted by his former friends, who have turned into bloodthirsty feral creatures.
The screenplay is written by the director himself, who has also served production duties along with Scott Jeffrey. The movie’s journey was pretty controversial, given it received a lot of negative attention when it was first announced in May 2022. Many purists were not open to adding a horror twist to the “beloved childhood icon,” understandably. However, that could not stop Frake-Waterfield from fulfilling his dream; now, the world can see and judge the movie on their own.
