The Canadian actress turned filmmaker is known for her directorial debut Away from Her in 2006, which won her the Best Director award at the Canadian Screen Awards. Polley’s Women Talking is based on the 2018’s novel of the same name by Miriam Toews.
Set in 2010, in an isolated Mennonite colony, the film’s premise follows the story of eight women reconciling their reality with their faith after a bone-chilling, horrifying revelation that the men in their community have drugged and raped the women at night for years, comes to the surface.
