Top Industries Influenced By The Movie Industry

There isn’t a single person on the planet that does not enjoy movies, whatever the genre may be. Some of the top movies gross hundreds of millions of dollars globally and are a huge contribution towards innovation and employment, as well as society, in general.

Throughout the years, the movies were able to influence many other industries due to their popularity and impact. That is exactly what we wanted to elaborate on this article. We decided to give you 3 other industries that were heavily influenced by the movie industry and managed to grow.

Online Casinos Like Voodoodreams

Casinos were heavily criticized and restricted in most of the countries around the world during the 1950s and 1960s. Once gambling movies started hitting the theatres, all of that changed. Governments were under a lot of pressure by the public to change their laws considering casinos and gambling activities and make them legal, which they eventually did. Many popular tourist destinations today are known as gambling centres – Las Vegas, Singapore, London, and Hong Kong are among them.

But, as time passed by, the gambling industry didn’t stop there. In 1994, Microgaming created the first casino software and allowed people to enjoy casino games online. And just like that, the online casino business was born. Even though it wasn’t that popular in its first years since inception, 2015 was the year when all of that took a turn towards a positive change.

In that year, these sites had a massive spike in traffic. Online casinos like Voodoodreams were offering their services to millions of people around the world. To make things even better, they reached their peak in 2019 after it was measured that their global revenue was over $60 billion. Experts believe that that number will double in the next 2 years.

So, to sum it up, the online casino industry and the gambling industry, in general, was legalized and started to grow thanks to the efforts from the movie industry.

Music Industry

Every movie has to have a soundtrack. Although the music industry is in a league of its own, movies had a huge contribution in making certain songs and artists known to the global audience. One more interesting fact is that many teenage stars from various movies succeeded in making themselves known as singers. Miley Cyrus, Michael Cera, William Shatner, and Jeff Bridges are just a few of the most popular names that ring bells to the audience.

Comic Book Development

Lastly, we wanted to address comic books. Sci-fi movies based on comics are the biggest profit makers in the last couple of years. The most notable names in this section are Marvel and DC. After the big success Marvel had with Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk, they sped up the production and development of their comic books based on the heroes in that universe. The whole process peaked after Avengers: Endgame became the highest-grossing movie of all time, surpassing Avatar at the top.

DC did the same thing. They saw how much potential these movies have, which is why they started making comics where you can experience epic battles. Unlike Marvel, they didn’t have the same level of success, but comics are being written with lightning-fast speed as we speak, as a way to develop future movies.

Same goes for Star Wars. This space opera franchise has left a thousand plot holes in their storyline and some of them are explained in their comics. The directors use these plot holes as a marketing strategy to develop and sell more comics, which is genius.
