Knock At The Cabin Dethrones Avatar: Way Of The Water At the Box Office: The first weekend of February brings with it Knock at the Cabin. This film finally overtook James Cameron’s Avatar: Way of the Water and took the box office’s top spot. M. Night Shyamalan’s latest apocalyptic psychological horror film Knock at the Cabin was released on 3rd February 2023 to rave reviews and full-house cinemas.

The Universal Pictures produced film is based on Paul G. Tremblay’s novel of the same name and managed to earn $5.4 million on the first day of its release domestically. The film stars Dave Bautista, Jonathan Groff, Ben Aldridge, and Nikki Amuka-Bird, among others. It tells a story about four armed strangers breaking into the cabin of a couple on vacation with their daughter, asking them to make a sacrifice to stop the impending apocalypse.

This psychological horror film is true to Shyamalan’s form, with strange happenings and an eerie, mysterious plot. The film is currently playing in 3643 theatres with per-theatre earnings of $1482. Hence, the film is expected to earn over $14.5 over the first weekend of its release.

Kyle Marvin’s sports comedy film 80 for Brady takes the second spot at the box office this week. This Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno, and Sally Field starrer film is about four friends and sports fans of New England Patriots traveling to Houston to watch their hero play in the Super Bowl. This light-weight heart-warming comedy starring veteran actresses opened to earning $4.7 million domestically.

The film is being screened in 3912 theatres across the U.S. with a per theatre earning of $1201. In short, the sports comedy film is expected to earn over $13 million over its first weekend. Avatar: Way of the Water has finally been dethroned from its top position at the box office eight weekends after its release and has moved down two spots to occupy the current third position.

This sequel to the highest-grossing film of all time is currently playing in 3310 theatres in the US with a per-theatre average income of $710. Most importantly, This Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana starrer science fiction action fantasy film entered the U.S. domestic top ten list of the highest earning film ever earlier last week and currently holds a gross domestic income of over @627 million.

Dallas Jenkins’s religious, historical drama television series The Chosen theatrically released its season 3 finale to take the fourth spot at the box office. The series is based on the life and times of Jesus and is set in the 1st century in the region of Judaea and Galilee.

The Chosen partnered with Fathom Events to release the season 3 finale theatrically on 2nd February 2023, and it is the third collaboration with the hit television series Fathom Events. The finale is currently screening in 1979 theatres across the US with per-theatre earnings of $1147 and is projected to earn between $6 million and $7 million over the weekend.

Taking the fifth position at the box office this week is Universal Picture’s animated action fantasy film Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. The sequel to Puss in Boots (2011), set in the ‘Shrek universe, has been a steady performer and has cumulative domestic earnings at $145 million.

This Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Harvey Guillen, Florence Pugh, and Olivia Colman starrer fantasy animation is projected to earn over $7.9 million over the weekend and is currently playing in 3452 cinemas in the US with per theatre earning of $790. Sony Pictures’ comedy-drama A Man Called Otto, Universal Pictures’ science fiction horror M3GAN, and Sony Pictures’ screen-life mystery thriller Missing take the sixth, seventh, and eighth spot at the box office collection list, respectively.
