For Dana Randall, her life is all about her job as chief pilot at Fullerton Airways. It’s a failing company that she and her late mother, Jeff, started. Dana is a very good pilot, so she can take tourists on tours of beautiful places and even rescue dogs that need quick veterinary care. The closeness of her relationship with her father and best friend Nikki makes them more determined to help people in the area.

In London, on the other hand, William’s father and boss, Duncan, puts a lot of pressure on him to make more money. William sees a chance and suggests that he sell Fullerton Airways for parts to please his picky dad. William’s trip to Australia starts when his father, to his surprise, agrees with the plan. William was sent to the island under the guise of an audit, but his time there and his contacts with the locals and Dana make him wonder about the real reason for his trip.

‘Love Is in the Air’ unfolds its romantic tale against the stunning backdrop of Queensland, Australia. This northeastern Australian state serves as the primary location for the film’s production, providing a picturesque canvas for the unfolding love story.

Airlie Beach

The quaint resort town of Airlie Beach takes center stage in the movie, providing the ideal setting for the romantic narrative. The production team strategically positioned themselves across various spots in town for filming purposes. Notably, Airlie Beach boasts two marinas, Abel Point Marina and Port of Airlie Marina, both of which feature prominently in several scenes. These scenic marinas offer a captivating backdrop that complements the film’s romantic atmosphere.

Whitsunday Airport (Shute Harbour)

Most of the airport scenes, including the hangar where Dana’s seaplane is parked, were meticulously filmed at Whitsunday Airport, located in Shute Harbour, just minutes away from the heart of Airlie Beach. This local airport boasts a 1,410-meter asphalt runway and ample parking space for visiting aircraft, making it an ideal location for capturing the aviation aspects of the film. Additionally, the filming unit ventured to the Whitsunday Islands, a group of 74 continental islands, for aerial shots. These breathtaking views of the Whitsundays, captured from the skies, provide a captivating glimpse of the Queensland landscape.

Not long before the storm, there is also a scene that nearly shows the famous Whitehaven Beach. The silica sand at Whitehaven Beach is very white and stays cool under your feet so that you can walk barefoot even on the hottest days. The storm scene might have been based on Cyclone Debbie, which hit the area in 2017 and harmed greatly.

However, it appears that most of the London scenes may have been studio-bound and filmed in Australia, possibly in Brisbane. The presence of a dedicated Brisbane Unit further suggests that certain scenes may have been recorded in this vibrant city.
