Everything New on Netflix in April 2021: Netflix Inc. is releasing a slew of new stuff in April, including the return of a reality hit and a much-anticipated new fantasy series.
“Concrete Cowboy” starring Idris Elba looking extremely handsome in a cowboy hat, is premiering in April on Netflix. Elba plays a man who “finds solace in rehabilitating horses for inner city cowboys.” But if concrete cowboys aren’t your thing, there’s also “Thunder Force”, a superhero comedy starring Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer, or “The Mitchells vs. the Machines”, the latest animated adventure from producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller. There aren’t a ton of new library titles this month, but there’s plenty of successful and critically acclaimed titles like August: Osage County (2013), The Master (2012), Crimson Peak (2015), and The Time Traveler’s Wife (2009).
TV selections headed to the streaming service this month include limited series “The Serpent”, starring Tahar Rahim of the Golden Globe-winning film “The Mauritanian” and former Doctor Who companion Jenna Coleman in a true-crime thriller about 1970s serial killer Charles Sobhraj. There’s also “Shadow and Bone” (April 23), the series adaptation of the hugely popular YA novels from Leigh Bardugo. Jessie Mei Li stars as Alina, an orphan in a war-torn country who discovers she has mystical powers that could change the fate of her world.

Also, worthy of note are documentaries coming to Netflix in April 2021. “This Is a Robbery: The World’s Biggest Art Heist” is a docuseries about a notorious Boston museum heist in 1990; and “Life in Color with David Attenborough” an Earth Day-themed documentary about the way animals use color.
