Everything We Know About Netflix’s Lady Chatterley’s Lover: Netflix is all set to release the film adaptation of ‘Lady Chatterley’s Lover’, a controversial novel by the English writer D.H. Lawrence. ‘Lady Chatterley’s Lover’ first published privately in Italy in 1928 was not publicly published in the United Kingdom until about 30 years later in 1960. The novel became notorious for its explicit depiction of sex, an adulterous relationship between a working-class man and a highborn lady. It caused widespread shock and scandal after publication, especially for the frank use of language, most notoriously the use of the four-letter words beginning with F and the C.
There have already been various adaptations of the book, Netflix itself streamed a miniseries originally broadcast on BBC One in 2015 starring Richard Madden of ‘Game of Thrones’ fame. Directed by French filmmaker and actress Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre this film will add to Netflix’s line of classic literary adaptations. However, if the first look and subject matter are anything to go by this film looks to be different from its regular Jane Austen fare.
