[Watch] Trailer for Award Winning Director Ava DuVernay’s Netflix Miniseries “When They See Us” tackles the tale of Central Park 5

Netflix recently released the official trailer of ‘When They See Us’. The Netflix original is a four-part miniseries directed by BET Award-winning film director Ava DuVernay. When They See Us tells a story of the Central Park Five where 5 young Black men were wrongly convicted of rape in the New York City in 1989.




 

As per Netflix, the series is going to cover 25 years from the beginning of the assault of Trisha Meili and 2014 – settlement between the New York City and 5 men named – Kevin Richardson, Raymond Santana, Antron McCray, Yusef Salaam and Korey Wise. These men had spent years in jail for the crimes they didn’t even commit in the first place. The series is said to unfold the events from the perspective of those five young men as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The series is co-written and directed by Ava DuVernay and the cast includes Michael K. Williams of The Wire series. Joshua Jackson, American Comedian Niecy Nash, X-men star Famke Janssen along with Felicity Huffman also star in the mini-series.
