In the American horror scene, Shining Vale stands out as a unique streaming TV show, made by Jeff Astrof and Sharon Horgan. This interesting story came to life with the help of Courteney Cox, Greg Kinnear, Sherilyn Fenn, Mira Sorvino, Merrin Dungey, and Judith Light in a stellar group. When it first aired on Starz on March 6, 2022, it was the start of an interesting journey into the strange. Rotten Tomatoes gave the first season a 71% approval rate based on 24 reviews, with an average score of 6.20/10. Most of the reviews on the website praised the show’s attempt to combine comedy and horror, calling it “overly ambitious.” The energetic performance by Courteney Cox, on the other hand, gave this mix of genres some hope. Metacritic added their opinion, giving the movie a score of 61 out of 100 based on 19 reviews, which they said showed “generally favorable reviews.” In the article we take a look at the fate of Shining Vale continuing for a Season 3.

What is Shining Vale about?

The story of Shining Vale is about a broken family that moves from a busy city to a quiet small town. Patricia “Pat” Phelps, who used to be a notorious “wild child” and is now famous for her sexy books about women’s freedom, makes this move after her cheating is revealed. The new house has a dark past of unspeakable crimes that only Pat can see because she is torn between thinking about depression and the idea of possession.

Even though Pat has been sober for 16 years, she still feels unfulfilled because her book isn’t moving forward, her marriage isn’t strong, and her teens don’t want her presence. As the house’s ghosts come to life, the line between the magical and the real world gets less clear.

Has Shining Vale been renewed for season 3?

No, Shining Vale is not renewed for season 3. Officials have decided to cancel the show after season 2. The show is canceled, and one thing is also made clear by Starz, they are going to take it off from their online library by the end of the month.

Jeff Astrof, who co-created the show with Sharon Horgan, shared the sad news on social media, saying that he was having a great time working on it and encouraging fans to watch the Starz (unexpectedly Limited) series before the deadline. He said, “This show gave me unrelenting joy to work on. Not a single bad day. Please watch the Starz (turns out, Limited) series Shining Vale before 12/31.”

Shining Vale didn’t get many watchers, even though its first season got good reviews, it was renewed in May 2022, and a second season was announced in October 2023. This obvious lack of viewers eventually led to the show being canceled and soon to be taken off of all of Starz’s platforms. This was a sad ending to a satirical horror comedy project that had been promising.
