Ryeoun as Eun-gyeol

Ryeoun plays the character Eun-gyeol, who has many different shades and lives a double life. During the day, he is a picture-perfect student, working hard on his schoolwork. But he becomes a passionate guitarist who escapes into music and dreams when night comes. Eun-gyeol’s unique personality is also shown by the fact that he is a CODA (Child of Deaf Adult). This means that he is the only person in his family who can hear. He says the journey will be a wild ride of self-discovery and music.

Choi Hyun-wook as Lee Chan

Choi Hyun-wook steps into the shoes of Lee Chan, a character brimming with exuberance and youthful charm. Raised in a boarding house under the care of his grandmother and surrounded by college students, Lee Chan embodies Generation X vibes despite his young age. His lively and spirited persona injects an element of joy and vitality into the narrative, promising to keep viewers entertained throughout the series.

Plot:

Twinkling Watermelon takes the time-travel romance genre in a new direction.  The story is about a high school student named Eun-Gyeol (Ryeoun) who has deaf parents and is a very talented musician. During the day, Eun-Gyeol acts like a good student by doing well in his classes. But music is his true love, and he does well as a guitarist in a band.

One day, Eun-Gyeol walks into a mysterious store that sells musical instruments. This store becomes the hub of his journey through time. Here, he meets Yi-Chan (Choi Hyun-Wook), Se-Kyung (Seol In-A), and Cheong-A (Shin Eun-Soo), three people who will later form the band “Watermelon Sugar.” As the story goes on, viewers will be taken on a journey through time and into the lives of these fascinating people. Expect a rich tapestry of feelings, music, and new territory as Twinkling Watermelon looks at how time travel affects the lives of our favorite characters in a deep way.

Episode 1

The family of Eun Gyeol moves to a new area. Someone helps him learn to play the guitar, and Eun Gyeol works very hard to do so. He works on his guitar skills until they are as good as the teacher who taught him while dealing with bullies at school. Tragically, though, something happens and he and his family have to move again.

Episode 2

Eun Gyeol really wants to stop making music, but it’s hard for him. He is asked to join the Hongdae-based rock band SPINE9. Even worse, he finally gets the guitar the owner of Viva Music shop told him he would give him. He isn’t sure which way to go, so he walks into a music shop that seems sketchy.

Episode 3

There’s no way for Eun Gyeol to get back to the present when hhe gets stuck in 1995. It gets even worse when he meets his young, talkative father who wants to start a band for a girl who isn’t his mother. So he can get Yi Chan to want to join his band, he pretends to be the genius musician Yoon Dong Jin.

Episode 4

When Eun Gyeol meets Se Gyeong when she is a teenager, he finds out some things about her life that don’t make sense. On the other hand, Yi Chan meets Chung Ah for the first time and doesn’t say anything. Despite Yi Chan’s best efforts to avoid Eun Gyeol, the latter tracks him to the Snail Guesthouse and ends up teaching Yi Chan math.

Episode 5

Eun Gyeol wants to prevent the accident that made Yi Chan lose hearing. He’s determined to help Yi Chan and has promised to teach him all he needs to learn. He’s even planning to give Yi Chan a special band he needs. But there’s a problem – the school festival is just a month away, and the person Yi Chan is doing all this for has left the country and won’t be coming back.

Episode 6

When Se Gyeong comes back, it leaves everyone puzzled, especially Eun Gyeol. He tells her firmly to stay away from Yi Chan, but that doesn’t stop her. Se Gyeong has her own plans and approaches Yi Chan. Meanwhile, Chung Ah can only watch, feeling like she missed her chance to express her feelings to Yi Chan.
