Vaathi (Sir): Dhanush has been on a roll this year, from working on an International Project alongside Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans in the Russo brothers’ spy thriller ‘The Gray Man‘ to working with Nithya Menen and Prakash Raj in sleeper-hit, romantic comedy-drama Thiruchitrambalam. In between, he worked on two failed films, Maaran and Naane Varuvean as well.
Dhanush has often successfully starred in coming-of-age dramas throughout his career, and his lean physique, coupled with his charming personality, let him slip easily into any character. He can play a strong-willed, jobless bachelor in V.I.P. quite effortlessly. With the same zeal and energy, he can slip into a character of a ferocious father protecting his family in Asuran.
What is the Plot of Vaathi (Sir)?
The rampant corruption in the education sector has propelled filmmakers to tackle the subject for awareness. Now, education is not singularly about imparting a learning curve, but it has turned into a profitable business. Venky Atluri explores the same subject, placing Dhanush as Balamurugan (Tamil) / Bala Gangadhar Tilak (Telugu) as a third-grade junior lecturer at Thirupati Educational Institute (Tamil) /Tripathi Educational Institute (Telugu) (T.E.I.).
From the trailer, he is playing a character of an ideal teacher who stands against the institutes, that provide education to children, in exchange for business profits. Made at a modest budget of 40 Cr., Vaathi is a commercial potboiler that plays to the strength of Dhanush.
