What Happened in Virgin River Season 5, Part 1?
In the first chapters of Season 5, the strong young couple Lizzie and Denny set out on a mission to get the remaining residents out of the town before a terrible fire destroys it. But their near-death experience hurts their relationship and makes Denny think about how short and fragile life is.
At first, a heart-to-heart conversation brings them closer together. But when Denny goes fishing with his grandpa, Vernon, he has a change of heart. Episode 10 is a turning point for the pair. Lizzie does a great job as Hope’s assistant and is a key part of putting together the town fair. But Denny surprises her by saying he wants to travel the world and hopes that Lizzie will accompany him. The bombshell moment gets even bigger when Lizzie tells everyone she’s pregnant. The big question is whether this news will drive them apart or bring them back together. The answer can only come with time.
In Season 5, we also find out who the real father of Charmaine’s twin boys is. In a shocking turn of events, Calvin, who was thought to be dead, shows up at the fair and says he wants to be a father to his boys. Charmaine’s decision to tell Jack that he is the father adds fuel to the feud between Calvin and Jack, which she does because she wants a stable father role for her children.

As the season unfolds, firefighters discover a buried body beneath the scorched earth after extinguishing the flames. Thankfully, no beloved characters meet their demise in the natural disaster. The buried body is none other than Wes, Paige’s abusive ex-husband, whom she accidentally killed with Preacher’s assistance.
This revelation casts a shadow over Preacher’s life and love as questions about his integrity and Paige’s whereabouts arise. Following the fair, the story fast-forwards four months, and Mel and Jack prepare to celebrate Christmas in their cozy cabin. However, a shocking revelation emerges as Joey unveils letters their late mother wrote to a man from Virgin River. Suspicion arises that this mystery man, whose identity remains concealed, might be Mel’s father. Since there aren’t many older men in the town, the search for the truth gets harder, and it looks like an interesting family secret will be revealed.
