While writer/director David O. Russell has had an infamous and controversial persona for being extremely abusive on sets with his actors, through the years, he has also managed to always rope in an ensemble of some of the biggest actors currently working in Hollywood. Be it his 2013 film American Hustle or the 2012 Oscar-winning Silver Linings Playbook, he has made some critically acclaimed movies that feature a host of A-list actors. With his latest film ‘Amsterdam,’ he has again done the impossible by casting at least a dozen of the biggest stars you can possibly imagine.

The movie’s cast is headlined by Margot Robbie, John David Washington, and Christian Bale playing three close friends who get mixed up as murder suspects for witnessing a crime that they had no idea about. While much of the plot is still under wraps, Robbie plays a nurse, Bale plays a Doctor, and Washington is cast as an attorney as they unknowingly become a key part of American History.

Some interesting things about the movie include the casting of John David Washington in the role of the attorney. Previously, the Creed actor Micheal B. Jordan was set to play the character until Washington made the announcement back in 2022. Oscar-winning cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki returns to capture the 1930s in all its styles and glory. From the likes of it, Amsterdam feels like a light comedy with a close sprinkling of the right dose of David O. Russell’s dark humor.

While the critical reception of the movie isn’t all that promising, the cast, which also includes Anya Taylor-Joy, Robert De Niro, Michael Shannon, Rami Malek, Chris Rock, and Taylor Swift might just allow you to have a great time.

WHERE TO WATCH AND STREAM ‘AMSTERDAM’ ONLINE?

After many speculations through the previous months, Amsterdam is finally releasing in movie theatres on October 7, 2022. Disney also organized special IMAX screenings with Live Q & A across 70 theatres in the US, prior to the release.

As far as streaming is concerned, there’s no news or updates on the same. Since 20th Century Studios is now owned by Disney, it is likely that audiences will eventually get to stream Amsterdam with a Disney+ subscription right from the comforts of their homes. As to when that would be, we are still waiting for any official announcements to be made.
