Watch Christain Bale in The Pale Blue Eye

Watch And Stream The Pale Blue Eye Online: Scott Cooper’s latest movie, “The Pale Blue Eye,” starring Christian Bale in the lead, comes with many expectations. Bale’s return to the screen in the post-pandemic era has not been a good experience for the actor and his fans. While his last pre-pandemic release, “Ford v Ferrari,” was a runaway success with both audience and critics, both his 2022 releases, “Thor: Love and Thunder” and “Amsterdam,” didn’t quite hit the mark. The actor, who didn’t have a single release in 2020 and 2021, is not to blame for that, though, as despite the lukewarm response, his performances received much praise in both films.

But of course, we haven’t seen the last of the great actor in 2022 yet, as Cooper’s mystery horror seems very exciting from its premises. It is based on a novel (of the same name) by Louis Bayard, released in 2003. In this 1830 set story, a hardened detective Augustus Landor investigates a series of murders at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York, with the help of none other than Edgar Alan Poe.

Cooper is known for picking up great stories for all his films, even though none of his work, other than his debut “Crazy Heart,” has earned the status of “something great.” However, one thing that can always be expected from his movies is intense acting performance, be it Keri Russell in Antlers (2021) or Johnny Depp in Black Mass (2015), or Jeff Bridges in Crazy Heart (2009). Of course, Bale has worked twice with Cooper in Out of the Furnace (2013) and Hostile (2017), both of which have earned him considerable critical acclaim.

Along with acting in the lead, Bale also produced the movie along with Cooper and Cross Creek Pictures. Japanese cinematographer Masanobu Takayanagi has done the camera work while the legendary Howard Shore scored the music. The filming started on November 21 at the historic Compass Inn in Pennsylvania.

Along with Bale’s Augustus Landor, English actor Harry Melling has been cast for the role of Edgar Alan Poe. Melling, who was famous as a child actor for playing Dudley Dursley in The Harry Potter movie series, rose to fame as an adult star after his riveting performance in the Netflix hit series, The Queen’s Gambit.

The Pale Blue Eye can very well boast of a great supporting cast that has names like Gillian Anderson, Lucy Boynton, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Toby Jones, Timothy Spall, and Robert Duvall.

On December 23rd, The Pale Blue Eye was released in selected US cinemas. The critical reception has been pretty decent, as it stands on a 66 percent critic score based on 56 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes (at the time of writing this article). The US audience seems to like it more than the critic if the 77 percent Audience score on RT can be hailed as a parameter.

If you plan to stream it online, then fear not; you don’t have to worry for long. Netflix has bought the distribution right, and the streaming service is going to put it up for streaming from January 6, 2023.
