If I claim that Martin McDonagh is arguably the greatest filmmaker who understands the true nuance of Black Comedies I wouldn’t be far off. The likes of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and In Bruges are enough for anyone to put him right on the map as one of the most interesting contemporary voices in cinema. His latest, The Banshees of Inisherin, which brings back the combo of Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, is one of the most anticipated titles of 2022.

The Banshees of Inisherin follows two long-time friends named Pádraic (Colin Farrell) and Colm (Brendan Gleeson) as they seem to have a falling out. The real punch here is the catalyst for such a falling out is nowhere to be found and when Colm starts feeling hostile towards Padraic, he is unable to understand what went wrong.

Also starring Kerry Condon as Pádraic’s sister Siobhan, Barry Keoghan as Dominic, Pat Shortt as Jonjo, and Jon Kenny as Gerry, The Banshees of Inisherin is one of the best-received movies of the year so far. Currently, at a 99% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the website’s consensus reads, “Featuring some of Martin McDonagh’s finest work and a pair of outstanding lead performances, The Banshees of Inisherin is a finely crafted feel-bad treat.”

Where to Watch and Stream ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’ Online?

Currently, the only way to watch The Banshees of Inisherin is in a movie theatre. After premiering at the Venice Film Festival in September 2022 to a fifteen-minute standing ovation, Searchlight Pictures will be releasing the movie in LA and New York in a limited capacity on October 21, 2022. If it doesn’t happen to come near you, or you want to check the theatre listings, head over to the film’s website for updates.

As far as streaming is concerned, there’s no news about when and where The Banshees of Inisherin will be available online. However, since Searchlight Picture is the distribution company, which is a part of Walt Disney Studious, one can assume that the movie will eventually land on Hulu. For viewers outside the USA, any Disney+ subsidiary will be the home for the movie.
