In the end, June lets Doris listen to the recording of Carla’s phone call – which mentions Errol’s unfair conviction. Now, “Criminal Record” Episode 6 shows Hegarty learning a shocking truth while finding his missing daughter. Meanwhile, June has a major breakthrough in the Errol Mathis case that proves detrimental to Hegarty and his boys. Spoilers ahead.

Criminal Record Episode 6 ‘Beehive’ Recap:

The new, turbulent episode of “Criminal Record” begins with racist cop Tony Gilfoyle (Charlie Creed-Miles) working on his beehive. He shows it to his young grandson and mentions that the queen bee is getting old, which leaves her with fewer eggs to fertilize. Besides, he notes how protective she is of her hive – which reflects his concern regarding his career and legacy. He does not want it to get tarnished by his past actions, even if he was (and is) bigoted. Consequently, DS June Lenker (Cush Jumbo) keeps investigating Tony’s connection to the Errol Mathis (Tom Moutchi) conviction case.

Meanwhile, Hegarty goes to meet the mother of the kid who got shot in an accident. Now that the kid is in better shape, Hegarty assures the mother that he will find the culprit – and try his best to get him committed under the charges of attempted murder. On the other hand, Doris (Cathy Tyson) meets Errol in prison to tell him about the recent developments in the case. She is hopeful that the recording of Carla’s call (stating Errol’s unfair conviction) will help her prove the truth. But, unlike her, Errol is tired of the endless trial. His hopes are crushed by the system, and he is scared to feel any hope anymore.

What loophole do June and Sonya discover in Errol’s case?

June and Sonya Singh (Aysha Kala) discuss the issues related to Errol’s confession to Adelaide’s murder. Within 48 hours of denying the allegations, Errol had accepted the blame. During this time, he was taken back to the crime scene. So, June suspects something must have happened during that time that made him change his mind. Sonya finds a loophole in the records – after Errol was deemed medically fit, the police waited for three hours to interview him. She believes they were finding ways to make the case bulletproof for them and against Errol.

June meets the lawyer who possibly helped Hegarty and his boys in Errol’s case. The lawyer refuses to share any details to save his reputation under the claim of a formal clause. June returns to the station to speak with Chloe (Dionne Brown). She talks about prevalent racism in their organization. Back home, June tries to have a word with Leo (Stephen Campbell Moore) about their earlier conversation. However, he still does not want to dive into the topics that make him evaluate his ignorance as a white man. June is genuinely hurt by it.

Does Hegarty find his missing daughter?

Criminal Record Episode 6 Recap & Ending Explained
Cush Jumbo in “Criminal Record,” now streaming on Apple TV+.

Hegarty shows up at Patrick’s (Rasaq Kukoyi) flat – the one he paid for. He knocks on the door, and his daughter Lisa (Maisie Ayres) opens it. That is when he realizes that she and Patrick have a close bond. Hegarty expects her to put an end to it. Since he tries to control her personal life, she gets justifiably angry at him. They argue over their issues from the past. In the heat of the moment, he leaves her behind and drives away. Eventually, he realizes his immature reaction and returns to get her. However, she isn’t there anymore. Patrick mentions she did not return to his flat. So, Hegarty starts looking for his missing daughter.

Hegarty returns home but does not see Lisa there. However, he notices signs that indicate she is engaging in self-harm. So, he becomes even more frantic about her disappearance. Because of this, he forgets that he was supposed to meet ACC Claudia Mayhew (Georgina Rich) and a few other officers regarding the recent shooting case. His absence leaves her to do the work he is supposed to do. Anyways, Hegarty drives around the city looking for Lisa. He looks at the spots he thinks she may have gone to.  That’s when the episode offers a look into his past. Turns out, Hegarty saved Patrick from his past drug bust conviction for a reason related to Lisa. While he keeps looking around for Lisa, Patrick finds her back at his house.

Criminal Record Episode 6 ‘Beehive’ Ending Explained:

Does Tony Gilfoyle get arrested for his crimes?

June goes through some online records of Claudia’s past. She reads about Claudia’s desire to reform the police department. However, her liberal outlook is met with an outraged right-wing crowd insulting her left, right, and center – some even claiming their intention to harass her. Eventually, she suspects that the prejudiced commenter is Tony Gilfoyle. So, the next day, she shows up at his door and confronts him. She offers him a chance to come clean before she discloses his malicious past. Still, he refuses any blame and instead hurls insults at her, which projects his racist, misogynistic mindset.

When Tony closes the door on her, June goes to meet Claudia and asks for her aid to take action against Tony. By then, Tony tries to destroy all the evidence that can implicate him. On the other hand, Doris learns that Latisha (Janet Kumah) has been working for Tony for years in exchange for some favors. Because of this betrayal, she refuses to have a word with her. Eventually, she learns that Latisha had been letting Tony know about her daily work in Errol’s favor. Upon hearing that, Doris goes to confront Tony. He humiliates her and tries to drive away from her and from his problems. Accidentally, he injures her, leading to her hospitalization. So, Tony gets arrested for this crime, among others.

Does Hegarty accept his crimes to June?

After Tony gets arrested, June takes charge of the operation. Her team searches for records of his criminal activities on his hard drive. Hegarty shows up there and tries to take charge of the case. She confronts him for claiming Tony worked ‘undercover’ in neo-Nazi organizations. Hegarty continues to refute any blame in the matter. Ultimately, he learns that Claudia gave June control over this case. So, she won’t be working for him but vice versa. Before leaving Tony’s house, June’s team checks inside the beehive. That’s where they discover a CD hidden inside.

June watches the footage on that CD, which shows Hegarty interrogating Errol. She rewinds the footage over and over to sense something peculiar. It looks like Hegarty was feeding information to Errol to accept the crime. That makes her even more furious. So, she brings Hegarty to see the footage and question his intentions behind the way he handled the questioning – and why this footage was reported to be damaged back then. Hegarty stays in denial, but June refuses to back down. So, finally, Hegarty decides to tell the truth. With that, the episode ends on a cliffhanger, and we’ll learn more about Hegarty’s connection to Errol in the next week’s episode.
