Invasion (Season 2) Episode 8: Previously, Invasion on Apple TV+ followed the journey of Trevante and Rose based on Caspar’s diary. It leads them to Ben Shelton’s farm, occupied by military officials. On the other hand, Jamila and her gang meet Caspar and embark on a journey to find other kids who are in the hospital. Despite Jamila’s firm support of Caspar’s visions, Monty has his share of doubts. He questions whether Caspar is actually leading them to danger. Meanwhile, Aneesha’s search for Sarah continues, and they finally learn details about her present location.
Now, the eighth episode shows Mitsuki starting to experience symptoms from the time she spent with the alien entity. Since Maya opposes putting Mitsuki’s life in danger, Nikhil takes a daring step that creates ripples across the globe.

Episode 8: Cosmic Ocean
Mitsuki’s Struggles
The eighth episode titled ‘Cosmic Ocean’ begins with Mitsuki (Shioli Kutsuna) working to find the answers about the alien entity. Suddenly she hears Maya’s (Naian González Norvind) voice echoing around her. Maya asks Mitsuki whether she is fine and whether she is losing her memories. But Mitsuki’s perception of reality becomes so distorted that she cannot decipher what is real and what isn’t. Amidst her confused state, Maya holds her hand, which grounds her. ‘Touch is a perfect bypass’, she mentions. Maya asks whether Mitsuki is feeling like she is losing time.
Despite Maya’s concern, Mitsuki restlessly tries to decipher a pattern in the frequencies in which the entity communicates. Maya hopes Mitsuki takes a break even if learning the alien entity’s language is important. She does not wish for Mitsuki to end up like other people who suffered after their attempts at communication. But Mitsuki cannot stop herself from hearing a pattern of sounds. She walks up to the room of patients to notice their fingers, lips and eyelids moving. It seems like a different mode of communication. That’s when Mitsuki figures out that these people are communicating in the aliens’ language.
The Aliens’ Language
Nikhil (Shane Zaza) does not like the fact that Mitsuki is back with the suffering people. Still, Mitsuki tries to decode their pattern of communication. Meanwhile, Maya questions Nikhil’s immoral behaviour. So, he doubts her increased interest in Mitsuki and expects her to push Mitsuki to bring them closer to the entity. Then, he tries to ingrain a destructive mindset in Mitsuki’s mind to help him win a fight against the aliens. He expects Mitsuki to find out what the entity is hiding from them.
Maya tries to oppose Nikhil’s megalomania. But he doubles down on it by calling their work a golden opportunity for a neurobiologist such as herself. Finally, tired of him turning a deaf ear to her suggestions, she decides to resign. Before leaving, she tries to persuade Mitsuki to care for herself, instead of giving in to Nikhil’s wishes. Trevante’s Discovery
Earlier, Trevante’s (Shamier Anderson) and Rose’s (Nedra Marie Taylor) investigation based on Caspar’s notebook drawings led them to Ben Shelton’s farm. Trevante decides to infiltrate the army base and walk down the giant hole to learn what is being hidden. While he tries to open the lid on it, an alarm alerts everyone to his presence. Quickly after, the army men arrest him. He momentarily escapes to find a group of people being kept inside a room. Trevante remembers a few of those faces from his past.
The military does not share why they are locked inside. The sergeant goes through Trevante’s past and questions his thoughts of saving the world. Trevante questions them in return for only following the higher command without thinking according to the changing world. Soon after, the general comes to interrogate him. He proposes to let him help them, considering his military experience. Instead of accepting his offer, they put him behind bars.
Caspar’s Realisations
Jamila (India Brown), Alfie (Cache Vanderpuye), Monty (Paddy Holland), and Penny (Ruby Siddle) join Caspar (Billy Barratt) on their search for the other special kids. While others walk toward a facility, Monty stays back with Caspar. When they are alone, Monty accepts that he does not trust Caspar. He mentions he would protect Jamila in case he feels Caspar can cause them any harm. By then, Jamila returns to bring them to a way inside. They enter this place and reach a dead end. But Caspar keeps hearing sounds from behind that end. So, he opens it piece by piece and they walk to the other side.
Soon after, the gang comes face to face with the special kids. Dr Esmeee Gagneux (Emeline Lambert) is also present with her colleague, Gabriel, and a few guards. The doctors check Caspar’s medical condition to understand how he magically came out of a coma. Esmee tells Jamila how all the kids were struck by the alien attack, similar to Caspar. Gabriel wonders whether Caspar is himself anymore – or is a communicating void for the aliens. Jamila opposes that notion but Alfie also believes in it. Soon after, Caspar wonders why he stayed behind while other kids with visions, left.

What happens after Nikhil tries to enter the enclosure?
While Trevante is locked inside a cell, Rose comes to her precinct to ensure Caspar’s notebook is safe in the locker. She locks her associate and asks him to protect it at all costs. On the other hand, Jamila and others support Caspar, but Monty stays back. Gabriel notices that and goes up to speak with him. He mentions that Caspar’s connection with the aliens runs deeper than that of other kids’. Meanwhile, these kids tell Jamila that earlier, they were not calling Caspar.
While Mitsuki and Nikhil walk towards the entity, Mitsuki’s suit malfunctions. Every other suit besides Nikhil’s fails to work. Turns out, Maya did this specifically to make Nikhil risk his life for what he believes in. So, while Mitsuki stays back, she keeps revisiting her memories with her late partner, hoping their communication with the alien entity can help them. Suddenly, she senses something strange and so does Maya. Turns out, Nikhil breaks into the enclosure, which sets off a global seismic event with multiple epicentres.
The Effects of Seismic Events
Amidst this chaos, the special kids keep hearing sounds and start losing their minds. However, Caspar does not feel it, which makes Jamila doubt whether he is causing it. While he just tries to process what is happening around him, Jamila and her gang rush out of the place. On the other hand, Rose reaches the installation on Ben Shelton’s farm to sense the result of Nikhil’s actions. She tries to rescue Trevante but gets caught on her way there.
Meanwhile, the president questions Mitsuki about this chaos. So, Mitsuki decides to take matters into her own hands. She walks toward the enclosure to speak with the entity that communicates in the voice of Hinata. Mitsuki asks Hinata to come back to her. Eventually, the form engulfs Mitsuki to make her realise some crucial truths. Mitsuki manages to stop the seismic events but realises that the atmosphere inside isn’t theirs. So, the alien entity was a portal into their world. But she destroyed it.
