Fresh off the success of his latest film, “Challengers,” Luca Guadagnino is all set with his upcoming project, which will feature two of the most renowned actors in the Hollywood industry. According to Deadline, Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming thriller movie titled “After the Hunt” was joined by acclaimed actress Julia Roberts this past March. Made under the production banner of Imagine Entertainment and Amazon MGM Studios, the film is currently looking for more A-list firepower. Two-time Oscar nominee Andrew Garfield is currently in talks to star in Guadagnino’s film alongside Roberts.

The Italian filmmaker Guadagnino is known for making films that are characterized by their emotional complexity, eroticism, and sumptuous visuals. His notable directorial credits like “Call Me by Your Name,” “Suspiria,” and most recently, “Challengers” prove his impeccable directorial vision. Now, with his upcoming project, “After the Hunt,” the director will explore the suspense genre, as this project has been described as an “intense thriller,” and it will be set in the world of academia. The film follows a college professor (Roberts) who “finds herself at a personal and professional crossroads when a star pupil levels an accusation against one of her colleagues, and a dark secret from her own past threatens to come to light.”

Made under the direction of Luca Guadagnino and penned by Nora Garrett, the film is slated for release in theaters next year. Guadagnino, along with Brian Grazer and Allan Mandelbaum of Imagine Entertainment, will produce the project. Karen Lunder from Imagine Entertainment will executive produce alongside Nora Garrett. The film aims to start production this summer.

Guadagnino was also set to direct “Burial Rites,” starring Jennifer Lawrence. The film is based on the book of the same name by Hannah Kent and follows a woman accused of murder in a small village in Iceland. The film was announced in 2017 with no other recent updates.

As for “After the Hunt,” it is expected to premiere sometime in 2025.
