The world is celebrating the day of love, Valentine’s Day, today. Many celebrities also share their special day with Valentine’s Day, and one of them is our beloved actor, Simon Pegg. Today, on 14th February 2024, Pegg turns 54. He is best known for his appearances in “Star Trek” (2009-2016), “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” (2015), and “Mission Impossible” film series. Apart from being an incredible actor, he is also known for his comedic and writing gig. He has co-written films like “Shaun of the Dead” (2004), “Hot Fuzz” (2007), and “The World’s End” (2013), known collectively as the “Three Flavours Cornetto” trilogy, all of which saw Wright directing and Pegg starring alongside Nick. He also wrote and starred in the sci-fi comedy film “Paul” (2011).

Reflecting on his journey and his love for theaters back then, Pegg said, “When I graduated from university where I studied theater, film, and television, I went into stand-up because comedy was something I enjoyed but also because it offered me a certain autonomy that I wouldn’t have if I was sitting and waiting for the phone to ring as an actor. Then, I drifted into comedy acting through doing stand-up, and that was something that I really enjoyed. But it wasn’t the only thing I ever wanted to do. There was a time when I was younger when I just wanted to be at The Royal Shakespeare Theatre.”

Pegg is indeed an interesting personality, and his experiences throughout his journey make him a joyful and inspiring person. Let’s dive deep into his life to know the actor more closely. Previously, during an interview with GQ, Pegg shared about the ten essential things he can’t live without. He also shared insights into his personal life and his experiences working on Mission Impossible films.

As Pegg turns 54, he has certainly learned some hacks to life. He discussed his fondness for hot sauce, specifically Cholula. He also described another sauce whose name he didn’t mention, but it was like a suggestion for people like him who are completely sober and don’t partake of any stimulus other than caffeine. It even regarded it as a bonus. Another item that is marked as essential in Pegg’s life is his favorite scent, Chanel Antaeus. He says, “I just really love this. I feel like it’s a bit me.” He even claims that he resonates so well with the smell that he fears that the brand will stop producing the scent. He says that the smell of scent makes him feel uniquely him, and even people associate him with the scent.

The readers can certainly relate with the next item on the essentials list of Pegg, as it’s his smartphone. He describes the necessity of the device in his life by mentioning, “It’s an office and a recreational tool. It’s a viewer of media, and I generally always have it in my hand, much to my wife’s chagrin. Moreover, It’s got all my photographs. It’s got my entire daughter’s life on it. So I have thousands and thousands of photos documenting her entire life, which is incredibly important to me.”

Pegg shares a close bond with his family, and he never fails to show his affection for the family members. During this interview, he wore a Tiffany dog tag given by his wife to him. He said, “This which I’m wearing right now is a Tiffany dog tag that my wife gave me, and it’s inscribed with SM and M, which are Simon, Maureen, and Matilda. This is something I wear when I’m away just ’cause it keeps them close. It’s difficult. One of the hardest things about my job is having to leave home all the time. I don’t really like leaving, so this helps me just to sort of like keep them close to my heart.”

Among the numerous films he has appeared in in his career, one of his most significant roles was in the “Mission Impossible” series. The actor claims the film had a great impact on his fitness journey. While mentioning his intake of Athletic Greens (AG1) powder for daily greens and vitamins, he shared that “Mission Impossible is responsible for getting me into fitness in my later life. When you look at me in “Mission Impossible 3,” I literally look like a potato in a cardigan, so when it came to doing “Ghost Protocol,” I kinda just discovered the gym.”

Among everything mentioned until yet, are undeniably essential for Pegg, but one thing he is nuts about is coffee. He says, “Coffee. I love, love, love coffee, and it’s something that I look forward to in the evening before I go to bed that I’m gonna have one in the morning. It’s my last remaining vice, really, caffeine, if you can call it a vice, and that first little hit in the morning is an absolute delight.”

Interestingly, Pegg was not always a coffee person, rather he was a “tea man.” It was Edgar Wright’s company that influenced him to be a coffee person. He recalled and said, “So we’d come over to New York, we’d stay at the Soho Grand, and then in the morning, we’d come down, and there was free coffee, free coffee, and it just became a religion to me after that. Okay, this is a basic style staple, I think.”

Pegg is undoubtedly a renowned personality in the entertainment industry, but do not confuse yourself with his celebrity aura as deep down he is “such a homebody.” Mentioning the 8th essential item on his list, he said, “I spend my life in sweatpants and a Henley T-shirt. That’s where I’m most comfortable.” Although he chooses comfort over fashion, that doesn’t mean that he completely keeps aside his fashion requirements. Just like coffee, he is crazy about sunglasses, and he spends a lot on it as well. He said, “I freaking love sunglasses. That and the right headphones for my snowboarding helmet are the things that I spend the most money on.”

The next thing that he lives for is “music.” Last but not least, a couple of fitness items include a heart rate monitor and a metabolism tracker.
