HBO Max just released the trailer for Love & Death – an upcoming limited series starring Elizabeth Olsen and Jesse Plemons. The dramatic tale seems to be filled with intense emotion and suspense and follows the story of two church-going couples living in Texas. All is hunky dory until an extramarital affair leads to a violent altercation, changing the lives of all of them – forever.
The series is created by David E. Kelley and Lesli Linka Glatter and is inspired by the book Evidence of Love: A True Story of Passion and Death in the Suburbs, in addition to a collection of articles from Texas Monthly. Apart from the lead actors, the cast also stars Lily Rabe, Patrick Fugit, Krysten Ritter, Tom Pelphrey, and Elizabeth Marvel.
Lionsgate coproduces the series, and executive producers include David E. Kelley, Nicole Kidman, Per Saari, Scott Brown, Megan Creydt, Matthew Tinker, Michael Klick, and Helen Verno. The series will have seven episodes in total, with the first three premiering at once, followed by one episode each week until the season finale on May 25th.
Elizabeth Olsen was thrilled to take on the role of Candy Montgomery – a housewife in the early ’80s, accused of killing her best friend. She told Vanity Fair that she was eager to explore the complexities of the character and “uncover why she is making the choices she makes and understand the life that led her to that pivotal moment.” Elizabeth was determined to find a way to sympathize with Candy and ultimately understand her motivations.
Love & Death promises to be a captivating and intense series, intertwining the themes of love, death, and the consequences of affairs. With an all-star cast and a gripping storyline, it will surely keep viewers engaged, seeing the recent aversion for crime web series.
Love & Death premieres on HBO Max on April 27th.
