Bombshell Teaser : Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie Starrer Exhibits Conviction

Earlier in the year, ‘Bombshell’ might’ve been one of the least hyped movies for 2019, but the teaser for the real life inspired drama is finally out and we can’t stop freaking out over the trio of Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie! ‘Bombshell’ is based on the sexual harassment controversy surrounding Fox News chairman Roger Ailes, who violated the rights of several female employees in a career spanning decades, and also critically harmed the victims’ professional lives when they didn’t comply to his disgusting demands.

Nicole Kidman plays Gretchen Carlson, a former Fox News anchor who legally started the movement against Ailes, while Charlize Theron plays Megyn Kelly, Fox’s renowned anchor who herself came out with reports concerning harassment she faced from the Fox chairman. Margot Robbie would be playing a fictionalized producer, who has a similary unfortunate story amidst this scandal. While John Lithgow plays the disgraced Roger Ailes.

Showtime series ‘The Loudest Voice’ starring Naomi Watts and Russell Crowe was based on this scandal too, and it’d be interesting to see how Bombshell improvises on that, as the former was subjected to a disappointing reception. In an interview, Theron spoke of her character, saying “I didn’t know how complicated her situation was and I think for a lot of people, they didn’t understand why she didn’t just speak up. She was in a complicated place and as a human being, I have empathy for that. I don’t think a lot of people truly understood that”.

Theron looks unrecognizable in the teaser which despite its implicitness hints at the taut and emotionally suppressed mannerisms of the victims, in their office. Here’s to hoping these wonderful artists can do some justice to a subject that deserves a bigger pedestal.
