After premiering on 15 December 2023, the second season of Amazon Prime’s Reacher, an action-packed series based on the fiction series from British author Lee Child, has already proven to be a big hit with fans.

The series, which premiered its first season in February of 2022, follows the retired military police officer, Jack Reacher, who uses both brain and brawn to solve intricate crimes. While the first season followed Jack Reacher through the events of Lee Child’s 1997 novel, The Killing Floor, the newest season introduces audiences to another genius novel in his series.

The creators of the show chose not to base the second season on Child’s Die Trying, the novel that directly followed Killing Floor, but rather chose to jump to his 11th book, Bad Luck and Trouble. While Child himself has admitted that it’s not mandatory to read the stories in chronological order, this would be the most logical order for the creation of the show.

What to Expect

The second season is packed with new characters and transports you to exciting locations, such as Atlantic City. If you want a genuine live casino experience, you don’t have to travel to Atlantic City or watch the second season of Reacher for that matter. You can get the same experience, if not better from a UK live casino such as Rhino.

Avid readers of Child’s work will be comforted to know that, like the first season, the newest installment doesn’t stray far from its source material. The new season sees the titular drifter, known for never staying in one place too long and surviving only on his humble military pension, pulled into an investigation tragically involving the members of his former military unit. This mystery sees him reunite with former teammates to get to the bottom of the mystery.

While the plot may say otherwise, the Reacher series, and indeed the entire franchise that Child has created, is no ordinary whodunnit. Yes, it may be packed with action, mysterious twists and turns, but the development of Jack Reacher as a character, as well as of the supporting characters throughout the story, is likely what keeps fans coming back for more.

Viewers Left Wanting More

Some key changes in the second season have left some viewers wanting. For one, the new season features frequent flashbacks between two timelines – the present investigation and Reacher’s military days with the members of his unit. This insight into Reacher’s backstory not only serves to develop Reacher as a character in the mind of the viewers but also allows us to become attached to the victims and understand Reacher’s grief. However, many fans found this constant back-and-forth to be jarring and confusing.

Other minor plot holes and some clumsy fight scenes might tarnish the legacy of the series, but for the most part, the second season proved to be a worthy continuation of Reacher’s story. Fans will also be excited to know that Season 3 is already in the works and will likely be set for release toward the end of 2024.
