Featuring Cillian Murphy in the lead role, the film centers around the career of the titular theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, who contributed to the development of the atomic bomb during World War II. The film was not only a box-office success but also showed dominance in the recent 96th Academy Award ceremony, as “Oppenheimer” bagged seven Oscar trophies, including Best Picture and Best Director for Nolan.

Now, after triumphing at the biggest award night, Nolan has moved on to another project. According to Variety, Nolan’s next movie may be a remake of the British 1960s mystery show “The Prisoner,” which was created by and starred Patrick McGoohan. Since the film is yet to be written by Nolan, there are details about what his remake might entail, including the plot or cast.

What can be expected from Christopher Nolan’s The Prisoner?

Since it’s a remake, some ideas regarding Nolan’s upcoming project can be extracted from the original work. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Nolan’s name has been attached to the project. He was previously supposed to helm the remake of “The Prisoner” in 2009. But called off the project because AMC aired its own six-part miniseries based on the 1960s mystery show with a cast that included Jim Caviezel, Ian McKellen, and Hayley Atwell.

It has been 15 years since AMC aired its remake. Now, Nolan can start fresh with his version of “The Prisoner.” Nolan is known for effortlessly making large-scale films, so it can be assumed that the remake of the AMC series is in the right hands.

The premise of “The Prisoner” follows an unnamed British intelligence agent, Number Six, who is abducted and imprisoned in a mysterious coastal village after resigning from his position. The show dwells in multiple genres, like sci-fi, psychological thriller, and spy fiction. Considering Nolan’s previous work, he has a settled hand in the aforementioned genres, and films like “Tenet,” “Memento,” “Insomnia,” and “The Prestige” prove it as they also incorporate elements of psychological thriller.
