The Big Door Prize (Season 2) Episode 5 “Night Under The Stars” Recap:

At the end of the previous season, Giorgio (Josh Segarra) and Nat (Mary Holland) decided to get into a relationship. After that, things moved on pretty quickly. During a dinner date with other couples, Giorgio proposed to Nat, and she said yes. It all seemed to be going a little too fast. But neither of them showed any signs of concern. Now, it starts to bother Nat a little, considering Giorgioโ€™s excessive enthusiasm about them being together. On one hand, she doesnโ€™t want to break his heart and make him feel unwanted. But on the other, she wants a bit more space and time on her own.

Dusty (Chris Oโ€™Dowd) plans a stargazing event at Giorgioโ€™s restaurant. Giorgio decides to use this opportunity to bond with Nat and his stepdaughter, Savannah (Elizabeth Hunter). After hearing that plan, Nat feels a bit overwhelmed. So, she tells him that their relationship is moving too fast for Savannah. Hearing that, Giorgio decides to take things slow and not put pressure on either of them. It hurts him not to realize his potential as a superstar. But he agrees to make the necessary compromise for the sake of his future with Nat.

Dustyโ€™s Event

At the restaurant, Giorgio and Beau (Aaron Roman Weiner) help Dusty prepare for his educational stargazing event. Giorgio also keeps pizza slices ready for the attendees. Since Nat isnโ€™t attending their event, Giorgio tells Beau that there wonโ€™t be any need for his extra security. Dusty tells Beau to stay back. Soon after, Alice (Justine Lupe) arrives with her cello to perform at the event. Giorgio overhears her and Dustyโ€™s interaction and picks up on the romantic tension. He adores Dustyโ€™s schoolboy-like goofy awkwardness. Dusty tells him not to make any weird comments during the event.

Giorgio makes Dusty feel comfortable hanging out with Alice because of his โ€˜self-plorationโ€™ plans with Cass (Gabrielle Dennis). Soon after, the students start arriving one after the other. Until then, Dusty hadnโ€™t technically spoken with Trina (Djouliet Amara) about Alice. So, he gets awkward at the thought of it. Trina tries to spend time with Jacob, who seems preoccupied with his new friend, Trevor (Christina Adam). Trevor finds Dustyโ€™s artificial stargazing event idiotic. Instead, he wants to gaze at the real stars and the blood moon. He forces himself to be the third wheel in Jacob and Trinaโ€™s relationship and shares their mat.

The Ladies Night Out

Cass, Nat, and Hana (Ally Maki) go to the Oasis Funtime Parlour for their Ladiesโ€™ Night Out. While Cass and Nat dress for a party night, Hana dresses more casually. Nat is certain they will get free drinks. But once they enter the place, she is surprised. She recalls it being fun and lively back when she used to come there. Now, it is dull and boring, with mostly old people gambling or drinking booze. Still, the ladies decide to make the best of their night out of the house. Nat says they should gamble. Cass proposes they pretend to be someone else just for fun.

Cass pretends to be an adventurous British woman, whereas Nat pretends to be a gambling addict named Susan. Hana decides not to pretend anything but hopes to see the male stripperโ€™s show. However, she needs to tag along with Nat & Cass to a table to gamble. Soon after, Cass & Hana realize that Nat is willing to bet so much without thinking about it. Eventually, Nat opens up about her gambling addiction, which makes her worried about the future of her relationship with Giorgio. She made up a fictional addictโ€™s character to mask her sadness. Now, she worries that Giorgio may leave her once he learns the truth about her debts.

The Stargazing

Dusty begins the projection of his events and starts talking about them. Then, he hands over the charge to Father Reuben (Damon Gupton). Moments later, the projection abruptly stops and upsets the students. Jacob decides to go out with Trevor and leaves Trina alone. Then, he doesnโ€™t respond to any of her texts. Meanwhile, Giorgio offers everyone some hot pizza. While everyone goes away, Alice joins Dusty to check whatโ€™s wrong with the projector. Alice soon figures out the solution. Under the glowing stars, they have a date. Alice talks about her past and how it has shaped her.

Savannah tells Giorgio that she doesnโ€™t think their relationship is moving too fast. So, Giorgio realizes that Nat might be afraid herself. While Dusty and Alice are about to share a kiss, Giorgio interrupts them to talk about Natalie. Dusty, Reuben, and Beau join him. Giorgio reveals his vision, where he kept trying to fulfill too many pizza orders and ended up feeling insufficient. So, he fears he will mess things up if he takes too many responsibilities. His friends make him realize that the time in a relationship is relative. So, he can’t compare himself with others. Giorgio realizes Dustyโ€™s inhibition to step forward in his relationship with Alice. So, he, Beau, and Reuben boost Dusty’s confidence.

The Big Door Prize (Season 2) Episode 5 “Night Under The Stars” Ending Explained:

After his conversation with his friends, Dusty comes out of the restaurant and approaches Alice for a kiss. He doesnโ€™t realize that Trina is watching them from a distance. Trina gets upset by what is happening to her family. On top of that, Jacobโ€™s absence makes her feel lonelier. Eventually, Jacob returns and apologizes for not responding to her before. They talk about his new friend and her expecting some personal time in the past. Now, with all that is going on with her parents, she craves to be with him more often.

What happens between Nat & Giorgio?

Nat worries Giorgio might leave her if he learns about her pending debts. So, she thinks she will use the night to gamble too much money and sabotage her relationship with Giorgio. Cass and Hana realize the rooted fear behind Natโ€™s self-destructive behavior, so they help her calm down. At the end of their discussion, Nat realizes that she needs to be honest about her worries with Giorgio. They need to be on the same page for their relationship to work.

So, she and Cass drive back to the restaurant. While Nat goes to speak with Giorgio, Cass sees Dusty lying over his car and looking at the sky. In the restaurant, Natalie opens up to Giorgio about her issue with gambling. Giorgio says it doesn’t matter to him. He accepts her and promises to solve such problems with her.
