It feels like it has been ages since we saw Marvel actors sharing a screen. Well, now it looks like if that’s the wish, it has been granted, as you might soon witness Mark Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth sharing screens. Although it’s not a superhero film, they are reuniting on the upcoming adaptation of the 2021 Don Winslow novella.

According to Deadline, Ruffalo and Hemsworth will co-star in “Crime 101,” which will be released in theaters next year by Amazon MGM. Previously, the two MCU veterans shared the screen in all four Avengers movies, as well as the 2017 film “Thor: Ragnarok.” The upcoming “Crime 101” will mark their first film together outside of the Marvel Universe.

While Hemsworth has been attached to this project since last year, Ruffalo’s involvement in this film comes as fresh news as he is replacing Pedro Pascal, who had to depart the project due to scheduling conflicts.

As of now, there has been no update regarding the commencement of “Crime 101,” but little do we know that the film will be made under the direction of Bart Layton. Layton is an English documentary filmmaker known for writing and directing films like “The Imposter” and “American Animals.” He has also penned the script for the upcoming “Crime 101,” with contributions from Peter Straughan. The premise of the film is kept under wraps for now. The original short story by Winslow has shades of “Heat” as it follows high-level jewel thefts that are taking place up and down the Pacific Coast, which police have linked to Colombian cartels. Detective Lou Lubesnick has other ideas, and he zeroes in on one perp, a thief looking for a final score.

In addition to starring as a lead cast member in the film, Hemsworth will also serve as a producer alongside Ben Grayson. Other producers include Shane Salerno from Story Factory, Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan from Working Title, Layton and Dimitri Doganis from RAW, and Derrin Schlesinger. Joely Fether from RAW will serve as an executive producer.

Hemsworth has a busy schedule these days, as the other movies on the radar include a third “Extraction” movie, a fifth installment in Marvel Studios’ “Thor” franchise, and the long-gestating Hulk Hogan biopic. Meanwhile, Ruffalo has already been on a roll this year after coming off his fourth Oscar nomination for his scene-stealing role in Searchlight’s “Poor Things.” He is currently filming the HBO limited series “Task from Mare of East Town” creator Brad Ingelsby.

Crime 101″ does not yet have a release date but will hit theaters in 2025.
