Knives Out 3 Cast Revealed: The third installment of the Knives Out series will soon mark its release, where fans will get to witness Daniel Craig reprising his role as the iconic character Benoit Blanc. Now it has been revealed that new cast members, including actors Josh O’Connor and Cailee Spaeny, are joining the upcoming Knives Out three.
Filmmaker Rian Johnson is back to helm the film under his directorial vision. He previously confirmed on X, formerly Twitter, that “The next Benoit Blanc mystery, the follow-up to Knives Out and Glass Onion, is called Wake Up Dead Man.” He also revealed in a 45-second video teaser video that the sequel’s title is Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.
Netflix also confirmed Craig’s return and the sequel title on its Tudum site following Johnson’s post. The streaming giant wrote,
“That’s right, Daniel Craig is back as the suave Southern investigator in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, a new installment of the whodunnit franchise written and directed by Rian Johnson. Blanc will be unraveling a brand-new murder mystery in an as-yet-undisclosed setting, surrounded by a new colorful cast of suspects.”
Adding excitement to the anticipation of the film, the filmmaker noted on social media that production on the sequel is set to begin soon. Johnson said on X before releasing the film’s title,
“I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is. There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies.”
The film is set to be released on Netflix next year.
What can be expected from Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives-Out Mystery?
I wish knowing about the cast members and the director behind the camera was enough to tell what to expect from the film. But so far, this is all we know, as the plot details of the upcoming “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” are kept under wraps.
Considering the success of the previous two prequels, “Knives Out” (2019) and “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” (2022), it can be said that Rian Johnson is quite strong in his game of presenting what the audience wants. Knives Out franchise takes you to the world of Benoit Blanc, which is full of mystery. The first film follows the story of Blanc, a famed private detective summoned to investigate the death of bestselling author Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer). Although police rule Harlan’s case a suicide, Blanc suspects foul play and examines a host of clues and deceptive red herrings to ascertain his true manner of death.
The film was a big success, both commercially and critically. Made on a budget of just $40 million, it grossed $312.9 million and was also nominated for multiple awards, including three Golden Globes, a BAFTA, and an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.
Following the success of the first installment, the sequel film, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, marked its release in 2022 and received the same reception from the audience and critics.
With the upcoming third installment of Knives Out, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, fans will witness what new Johnson will bring to the table along with his ensemble cast.
The film is set for release in 2025.
