In August 2024, Hulu is expanding its lineup with a range of new series, returning favorites, and noteworthy additions. This month’s offerings include fresh Hulu Originals along with a collection of films and series from various genres. The month kicks off with several new series, and the season premieres on August 7. “Dance Moms: A New Era” introduces a new dance coach, Glo Hampton, as she navigates the intense dynamics of competitive dance. Also premiering is “NO WAY OUT: The Roulette,” a thrilling new show about a police officer protecting a criminal amidst a web of intrigue. Additionally, “The Zone: Survival Mission” returns for its third season, with Yoo Jae Suk, Kwon Yu Ri, and Kim Dong Hyun facing challenges in a virtual realm.

On August 12, “Solar Opposites” returns for its fifth season, following the misadventures of four aliens adjusting to life on Earth. “Tyrant,” a drama about a man caught between his American life and his family’s oppressive rule in the Middle East, will be available in full on August 14. The new crime drama “Vigilante” will also premiere in its entirety on August 15, focusing on a team tackling an underground justice organization.

Hulu’s documentary offerings include “After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun” on August 28, which explores the iconic show’s global impact. The month also features the premiere of “Muslim Matchmaker” on August 20, which offers a look into matchmaking within the Muslim American community, and “Reasonable Doubt” Season 2 on August 22, which follows a criminal defense attorney’s unconventional methods. Returning for new seasons, “Only Murders in the Building” begins its fourth season on August 27, bringing back the trio of amateur sleuths as they delve into another murder mystery. Hulu’s film additions include “The Woman King,” “Beautiful Disaster,” and a selection of classics and recent hits, such as “The Beach,” “Casino,” and “Zero Dark Thirty.”

No Way Out: The Roulette centers on a police officer who must protect a criminal in a twisted turn of events. The story unfolds with a murderer released from prison after 13 years, now with a bounty on his head, a lawyer who takes on the criminal’s case to advance her career, a mayor who leverages criminals to salvage her political future, and a son burdened by the stigma of his father’s crimes. Amidst this, a killer arrives in Korea for a payday, and a shadowy figure places a bounty on the criminal.

The Zone: Survival Mission: 3-Episode Season 3 Premiere on August 7

Yoo Jae Suk, Kwon Yu Ri, and new cast member Kim Dong Hyun must endure a 4-hour challenge in a virtual realm that blurs the line between reality and surrealism.

Solar Opposites Season 5 Premieres on August 12

A team of four aliens escapes their exploding home planet and crash-lands in a ready-to-move-in house in suburban America. Divided on their view of Earth, Korvo (Justin Roiland) and Yumyulack (Sean Giambrone) are dismayed by the pollution, consumerism, and human flaws, while Terry (Thomas Middleditch) and Jesse (Mary Mack) are enamored with humans and their TV, junk food, and entertainment. Their mission is to protect the Pupa, a living supercomputer that will eventually evolve, consume them, and terraform the Earth.

Tyrant: Complete Season 1 on August 14

Tyrant follows the journey of Bassam “Barry” Al Fayeed (Adam Rayner), who returns to his turbulent Middle Eastern homeland after a 20-year exile in America for his nephew’s wedding. Barry, the youngest son of a controversial dictator, is thrust back into the complex familial and national politics of his past. As he grapples with his father and older brother Jamal’s (Ashraf Barhom) oppressive rule, Barry struggles to make his all-American family understand his discomfort. His wife Molly (Jennifer Finnigan) uncovers a past romance between Barry and Jamal’s wife, Leila (Moran Atias), while their daughter Emma (Anne Winters) shares Barry’s disdain for their extended family’s excess. Loosely inspired by celebrity attorney Shawn Holley, known for representing the Kardashian and Jenner families, Lindsay Lohan, Justin Bieber, Tupac Shakur, and Katt Williams, the series stars Emayatzy Corinealdi as Jacqueline “Jax” Stewart, a high-powered criminal defense attorney in Los Angeles. Three strangers with a shared obsession for true crime become entangled in a real-life case when a gruesome death occurs in their exclusive Upper West Side apartment building.
