Bad Monkey Episode 4 “Nothing’s Wrong with It, I Just Don’t Need It Anymore” Recap:
The episode opens with a detour in its narrative, taking us back to a time when Eve was attending acting classes. A poor performance and a rift with her acting coach broke Eveโs heart, but her faith in a bright future kept her sanity intact. Meanwhile, we also see Nick and Caitlin sharing a very close relationship, with Nick being an understanding single father, attentive to Caitlinโs needs as a growing adolescent. However, Caitlin wants to meet people her own age and develop her own personality.
So, when she hangs around with her father at a local bar, she wishes to be with her new friends more than anything. This is when Nick meets Eve, with whom he instantly connects. Soon, things move quickly for the odd couple as they get married, leaving Caitlin displeased by the latest developments in her fatherโs life. At the same time, Caitlin turns to substance use as a way to cope with her fatherโs choices, which seem to distance him from her life.
Why does Nick change his identity?
Eve and Nick go on to build their life together, aiming to make more money and create space for a luxurious lifestyle. Nickโs best friend, Israel OโPeele, a doctor, also tags along with his friendโs idea of scamming vulnerable people for insurance money. Now, with Eve in the picture, they fully commit to their scheme, making easy money in no time. However, when their scam is scrutinized by FBI agents, Israel starts to panic about getting caught and thrown in jail. Nick, on the other hand, breaks the news to Eve, who also doesnโt take it well. She throws a huge fit about not wanting to return to her poor, desperate life, where she had to struggle to make ends meet.
So, Nick does some self-introspection and comes back to Eve with an idea. He proposes that Eve report her husband missing after a freak boat accident. Since a piece of evidence is needed to pronounce a missing person dead, he suggests cutting off two of his fingers. However, Eve thinks bigger, and ultimately, the couple decides to chop off Nickโs left arm. Israel, as a doctor, helps the couple orchestrate the plan further, with his professional expertise coming in handy.
Why does Nick kill Phinney and Israel?
Eve goes ahead and executes the plan as the trio decides, with Israel making the freshly severed arm look more authentic as a boat accident by severely damaging it further. He then hands it to Phinney, who works on a boat catching fish and entertaining tourists. Meanwhile, Nick awkwardly bids farewell by calling his daughter, informing her that he’s off on a boat trip. Although Caitlin finds her father’s call odd, she cares very little about the whole situation anyway. We then find Nick recovering from his supposed surgery, living a very low-key staycation in Miami with a new identity, and making plans for how they could use his insurance money to build a resort on the Key strip.
Unfortunately, when the trio thinks things will pan out as they imagined, Yancyโs entrance into their lives spills everything everywhere. During Yancy and Eveโs meeting (Episode 1), Yancy becomes suspicious, leading Eve and Nick to become more vigilant. Yancyโs constant probing with his interrogation, along with Phinney asking Nick for money, irks Eve, who pressures her husband to clear the pathway. Nick eventually kills Phinney (Episode 2), and when Israel starts to panic more than necessary, Eve manipulates her husband again. Nick meets Israel and discovers that he agreed to meet with Yancy to come clean about everything. Nick despises this, and to get rid of the problem, he kills his best friend, too, but now lives with the guilt of double murder on top of everything else.
What happened between Yancy and Officer Mendez?
Back in Yancyโs life, when he was an actual detective in Miami, things turned upside down when he encountered police officer Mendez. It turns out that Mendez had somehow managed to appoint his pals and family as tippers, earning him money and more cases. Yancy cracks this loophole and even has a standoff with him about it. However, Yancy, who seems to invite trouble, tries this tactic himself but ends up in hot water with his bosses. While Mendez is told he can kiss his promotions goodbye, Yancy, on the other hand, gets transferred to another district. He patiently waited to be called back, but the call never came.
Eventually, Yancy found himself struggling to return to being a detective and at odds with Mendez, who was biding his time to get even with his enemy once the opportunity arose. Meanwhile, Yancy met Bonnie, a seductress in distress, and the two quickly shared a steamy affair. However, more trouble ensues when Yancy pushes Bonnieโs husbandโs beach cart into the sea after finding Bonnie beaten black and blue because of their affair.
Who kills Heather – The Weather Girl?
After killing an almost-teenager, Phinney, and his best friend, Israel, Nick is devastated and shocked. Instead of getting in the car and leaving after killing his only friend, Nick starts to spiral. However, when Eve gets out of the car to console (read: manipulate) her overly emotional and guilt-stricken husband, she finds the famous Heather, the weather reporter, overhearing their conversation, including the part about murdering two people. Nick, who had been blaming Eve for everything and never doing any of the dirty work, is shocked to see his wife take a pistol out of her purse and instantly kill Heather to eliminate the last piece of evidence that might sink their ship.
Why is Christopher (Nick) on everyoneโs hate list?
Briefly, we also find Nick making more enemies than he could imagine. While keeping himself discreet and low-key with Eve (due to his fake death announcement), he gets into a riff with Ya Ya and Madam Dragon (without, of course, knowing anything about them). It turns out that, out of curiosity, Ya Ya was interested in knowing how Nick lost his arm. However, Nick is rude to her, and Dragon Queen warns him about his rudeness, but Nick is even ruder to both of them. So, in addition to Neville, Yancy, and a few locals (due to his resort plans), Nick now has two more people on his list of enemies.
Bad Monkey Episode 4 “Nothing’s Wrong with It, I Just Don’t Need It Anymore” Ending Explained:
What happens when Caitlin learns about her father?
Now that weโre clear about everyoneโs intentions and actions, we return to the present, where Nick finally embraces Caitlin, who comes to Eve for a confrontation about killing her father. However, Eve doesnโt enjoy the father-daughter reunion and subtly shows her displeasure towards Caitlin, who now knows everything. Later, the bonding at the beach leads Caitlin to forgive Nick for distancing himself after his union with Eve. Eve, on the other hand, tries to suggest that Caitlin knowing about their deed is unsafe, but Nick calls her out for even suggesting killing his only daughter. Eve, knowing full well that Nick canโt bear to see her hurt, sheds a tear or two, making Nick feel remorseful for doubting his wife.
Meanwhile, after putting Madeline in a safe spot (since sheโs suspected to be next on the kill list), Yancy and Rosa hook up later at her office station (which is practically a pathology lab/morgue). Yancy even says “Love you” as he leaves, just as Rosa takes a call from her friend, who tells her that her boss, Heather, is dead.
Who does Nick kill next?
The ending of Bad Monkey Episode 4 finds Mendez, now a detective, calling up Rogelio and telling him to shut Nickโs case. However, shortly after, Mendez meets a local at his office who happens to be the woman who saw Yancy at Israelโs doorstep after his murder. She tells Mendez about this after recognizing Yancy from a picture Mendez has hung on his wall (from their last encounter when both of them were sort of fired for being pricks at work). The last sequence shows Yancy having a quiet time at home, reevaluating Nickโs case, and leaving Rosa a voicemail sharing his analysis that Christopher and Nick might be the same person. He basically cracks the case, but unfortunately, nothing ever goes smoothly for this guy. He gets a big blow to the head with an iron rod by Nick, and the episode ends on that note.
Will Nick finally be able to put a nail in the coffin of his mounting guilt trips and murders? Will Rosa listen to the voicemail on time? Will Rogelio actually close Nickโs case or follow his hunches after his partnerโs (Yancy) nagging intuitions? Will Mendez finally be able to get even with Yancy? These possible questions may be explored in the upcoming episode.
