The films of the Kurdish Panorama and World Vision sections were introduced at the 11th edition of the Duhok International Film Festival in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

According to the report of Mansour Jahani, an independent and international cinema journalist, Duhok International Film Festival in memoriam of Yılmaz Güney, the 1982 Palme d’Or winner in Cannes, Presided by Amir Ali Mohammed Tahir and artistic management by the Kurdish director, Shawkat Amin Korki, the 11th edition of Duhok International Film Festival is set to be held on 9-16 December, 2024, at Duhok University’s congregation hall and the Duhok Mall Cineplex in Duhok, Kurdistan Region, Iraq. Heralding the motto of Sports, this edition of Duhok will showcase 107 films by directors of different geographical backgrounds, in a variety of formats such as feature films, shorts, and documentaries in the two categories of competition and out-of-competition.

Feature Films in World Vision

Bangin Ali, the deputy secretary of the 11th edition of the Duhok International Film Festival, said about the films of the out-of-competition World Vision section at this film event: for this section, 5 movies have been selected, which are:

  • Miracle of Bern by Sonke Wortmann (Germany)
  • Chak de India by Shimit Amin (India)
  • The Witness by Nader Saeivar (Germany and Austria)
  • Glass Curtain by Fikret Reyhan (Turkey)
  • Malu by Pedro Freire (Brazil).

Documentary Films in World Vision

He added, that this year, 4 long documentary films from directors of different countries have been selected, the following titles are the entries:

  • Gospel of Revolution by François-Xavier Drouet (France)
  • Sisters Of Wrestling by Sarah Baril Gaudet (Canada)
  • After the Odyssey by Helen Doyle (Canada)
  • Danielle Mitterrand, une certaine idée de la France by Laurence Thiriat (France).

Bangin Ali has stated, also, 11 short films have been selected for the out-of-competition World Vision section, which are:

  • Dammi by Yann Mounir (France)
  • The Ugly Chickens by Mark Raso (USA)
  • Talisman (Nuhat fund Duhokiff) by Karar Hayder (Iraq)

  • A missing portrait of a skateboarder by Osama Anwar (Czech)
  • Bayan by Luqman Qasemi (Denmark)
  • Cold at day, warm the night by Nur Mohammed Tarhan (Germany)
  • Shadows by Rand Beiruty (France/Jordan)
  • A Move by Elahe Esmaili (Iran/UK)
  • Tradition by Ali Rıza BAYAZIT (Turkey).

Hassan Arif, the Public Relations Manager of the 11th edition of the Duhok International Film Festival, talked about the films of the out-of-competition Kurdish Panorama, in this section, two Kurdish movies have been selected, which are:

  • We Were Tricked by KAZIM ÖZ (Turkey).

He added, that this year, 4 short documentary films have been selected for this section, the following are the entries:
