Reversi (2025) Plot Summary & Movie Synopsis:

The film opens with Akid narrating how he hates the rains, as they have always brought him tragedy. In a counselor’s office, Akid mentions to counselor Kabir that some people can travel in time. In a flashback, we see Akid’s father telling Akid, who has just turned 18, that in their family, for some reason, men, after they turn 18, can travel back in time. This piques Akid’s curiosity, and he wonders if they can become rich by traveling back in time. However, Akid’s father remembers investing in stock, but all the money he made went to hospital bills or repaying the debts. Money earned like that would never stay.

So, Akid’s father tells him a few things about time travel; one is that one can travel back in time only in a calm state of mind. Second, some things cannot be changed. A flower will always wither, and one needs to accept fate. Third, although time travel gives knowledge about money, it does not stick around. At the counselor’s office, Akid proves his time-traveling capabilities so Kabir can listen to Akid’s story. Now, Akid begins narrating his story. One day, Akid is woken up by his mother. Since Akid wakes up late, Akid and his father go to a store to shop for fertilizers. A thief robs a woman’s purse at the store, so Akid’s father chases after the man. Soon, Akid chases after his father and watches the thief stab Akid’s father.

Will Sarah marry Akid?

Akid, in a state of shock, faints. Although Akid’s father is hurt, he tries to walk towards Akid, but a car runs over him. Instantly, Akid’s father dies. No matter how much Akid tries, he can’t return and save his father. After that, Akid grew up to become a police officer. There is one case Akid needs to solve; it is a mother, Aiysha, who tries to kill herself and her daughter, Min.

Even though Akid tries to reason with Aiyasha, she pulls Min and jumps off a tall building. However, Akid does not travel back in time immediately, as this is his process. Before using his powers, Akid examines the situation. This time, Akid returns to the past, saving Aiyasha and Min. Every time Akid uses his power, he notes the times in a notebook. As Akid explains to Kabir, when Akid uses his powers, he loses a part of his lifespan.

After solving the case, Akid’s colleague Man takes Akid to a party. There, Akid meets Sarah and falls in love with her. While dropping Sarah home, Akid learns that Sarah does not regret the past nor wants to be afraid of the future. Before leaving, Sarah invites Akid to an Aikido demonstration. It turns out Sarah is a martial arts teacher. After the demonstration, Akid and Sarah go to an MMA match. Soon, Akid and Sarah spend quality time with each other. After being with each other for two years, Akid tells his mother about Sarah. Later, Akid proposes to Sarah, who asks for time. However, before Akid leaves, Sarah agrees to marry Akid.

Before marrying, Akid wants to come clean, so he tells Sarah about his time-traveling abilities. After learning about the side effects, Sarah asks Akid never to use this ability. Sarah wants to die before Akid since she cannot live without Akid. After introducing Sarah to Akid’s mother, Akid and Sarah get married. After marrying Sarah, even the most mundane things started to look beautiful for Akid. Soon, they get to know that Sarah is pregnant. Life is going great until everything comes crashing down. The day Sarah gives birth, Akid is called in to work. There is a hostage situation at a store. After some time, Akid gets information from the culprit. The culprit has lost his job, and he has a kid to feed and look after.

Since Akid will be a father soon, he empathizes and gives some money to the culprit to pay rent and get his life back on track. By then, Sarah is tired of waiting and calling Akid. The doctors cannot wait anymore, so Sarah goes into labor. After work, Akid arrives at the hospital and is happy to see that Sarah is doing okay and has given birth to a son. The doctors enquire if Sarah’s family has a history of hemophilia. There is one person in Sarah’s family who has the issue. Baby boy Anas is brought home with happy parents, Sarah and Akid. Time flies as the family is happy. It is Anas’s seventh birthday, and he prays that his parents will be with him through all his birthdays.

Who does Akid save – Sarah or Anas?

One rainy day, Anas insists they go out, so Sarah agrees. The car does not start, so Sarah calls Akid, who is busy at work. Despite the rains, Sarah and Anas hail a cab. At a road cross, Anas drops his toy, so Anas heads back to pick it up. Conversely, a driver cannot see properly because his car’s wipers malfunction. Accidentally, the driver kills Sarah and Anas. When Akid gets the call to identify the body, he is filled with fury. The driver is none other than the culprit who was keeping a man hostage at the store. Although Akid had promised Sarah he wouldn’t use his abilities, he uses them to save his wife and child.

No matter what Akid does, he cannot save Sarah and Anas. First, Akid tries to ensure Sarah and Anas don’t leave the house on that fateful day. No matter what, one way or the other, Anas and Sarah die. Since Akid is using his abilities continuously, he is slowly growing old. After calculating the time of death, Akid manages to reach the accident spot on time.

However, Akid saves Sarah but cannot save Anas. Now, Akid realizes he can only save Sarah or Anas and not both. Furthermore, Akid is afraid to return and try to save Anas, worried he would also lose Sarah. Although Akid saves Sarah, she is no longer the same person, as Sarah has become depressed. One day, Sarah questions Akid why he didn’t go back and save Anas. So Akid lies, saying he made a promise to Sarah. However, Sarah can see Akid’s greying hair and knows Akid is lying.

What does Akid learn about his father?

Akid decides to come clean. However, Sarah thinks Akid should have saved Anas. Now, Sarah reveals that the day Akid proposed, one of Sarah’s students’ mothers asked Sarah to move to help their child. Bitterly, Sarah says she should have moved and not married Akid. This time, Akid returns to the past and saves Anas. Unfortunately, things are brutal this time as Anas cannot cope with his life without Sarah. Since Akid is also in pain, he becomes angrier towards Anas. Sadly, Anas has hemophilia, so Akid confines Anas to the house. Akid worries that if Anas steps out, he may die. The fear turns into reality when Akid’s mother takes Anas out. There, Anas’s nose starts to bleed, and he faints.

At the hospital, Akid’s mother reveals that Akid is just like his father. The truth is, Akid was the one who died at the store on the rainy day. However, Akid’s father traveled in time to try to save Akid, but Akid kept dying in cruel ways. The only option was for Akid’s father to sacrifice himself, and that’s just what he did.

At that time, Akid and his mother got the news that Anas was dead. The one who killed Sarah and Anas is in prison. The man calls Akid to visit. There, the man asks for forgiveness, and Akid understands how fate works and forgives the man. At the office, Kabir asks Akid what he plans to do, as it is his job to determine if Akid is in a sound state of mind to get back to work. However, Akid does not answer but appreciates Kabir for listening, as Akid already has a plan.

Reversi (2025) Movie Ending Explained:

Outside, Akid drives into a pillar while thinking about the tragedies of his life. As the car hits, Akid travels back in time. First, Akid comes to a time when it is just him and Anas. This time, Akid tries to understand Anas, taking him to Sarah and Akid’s favorite restaurant. Their bond becomes strong. Next, Akid goes to Anas’s seventh birthday, where Sarah notices Akid’s white hair.

Next, Akid is in the hospital with Sarah as she gives birth to Anas. The next stop is Akid and Sarah’s wedding day. By now, Akid has aged quite a lot, and Sarah asks Akid if they are happy in the future. So Akid tells Sarah that they also have a cute son called Anas. After that, Akid comes to the day he informs his mother about Sarah. Like Sarah, Akid’s mother is surprised to see an aged Akid.

Returning a little later, Akid arrives on the day Akid and Sarah meet. This time, Akid does not enter the party, so Akid and Sarah don’t meet and marry. In the final stop, Akid arrives on the day his father dies. By now, Akid is old and fragile. Now, Akid hugs his father and tells him he has lived his complete life and is content, so he should stop traveling back in time to save Akid from dying. In the next scene, we see Akid’s father is alive and thinks about travelling back in time, but Akid’s mother stops him, saying he should accept fate. In the end, a reporter says Akid, who tried to save a pregnant woman, died because of a gunshot.

Reversi ambitiously delves into the intricacies of time travel and parallel universes, but beneath its sci-fi exterior lies a deeply philosophical meditation on fate, regret, and the longing to rewrite the past. At the heart of the story is a powerful emotional thread, culminating in a poignant decision—Akid’s father chooses not to travel back in time to save his son, a quiet yet profound act of acceptance. Though Akid has endured the heartbreak of losing his family in a tragic accident, he ultimately finds reunion with his father in a parallel reality, offering a glimmer of hope without undoing the pain.

One of the film’s most haunting themes is the inevitability of fate. Sarah’s arc, in particular, adds emotional complexity. At first, she insists she lives without regrets. But as timelines shift—especially after Akid chooses to save her instead of Anas—her stance begins to unravel. She eventually confesses that marrying Akid was a mistake, revealing how fragile our sense of certainty can be when reality bends. The film underscores a powerful truth: while we may be tempted to dwell on the paths not taken, true peace lies in letting go and choosing to live with what is.

Reversi transcends its genre, offering more than just a gripping sci-fi narrative. It’s a tender, sometimes painful reflection on the consequences of our choices—and the grace found in accepting them.
