The first teaser trailer for Verity has been released, giving audiences a closer look at the upcoming psychological thriller from Amazon MGM Studios. The film stars Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson in lead roles, and the newly released footage sets the tone for a tense and unsettling story. Based on the bestselling novel by Colleen Hoover, Verity follows a dark and layered narrative that focuses on obsession, mystery, and emotional tension. The trailer highlights the growing conflict between the two main characters, with Hathaway’s role drawing Johnson’s character into a situation that quickly becomes disturbing.

What is the movie about?

The story centers on Lowen Ashleigh, played by Dakota Johnson. She is a struggling writer who is given a major opportunity when she is hired to complete a successful book series. The original author of the series, Verity Crawford, played by Anne Hathaway, is unable to continue her work after a mysterious accident.  Lowen moves into the Crawford home to begin working on the books. However, things start to feel wrong almost immediately. As she spends more time in the house, she begins to uncover hidden writings and disturbing notes that seem to reveal dark truths about Verity’s life. These discoveries slowly blur the line between fiction and reality, leaving Lowen unsure of what to believe.

Teaser Trailer Out for Verity:

The trailer focuses on this growing tension. It shows Lowen trying to understand Verity’s condition while also dealing with the unsettling environment around her. At the same time, her connection with Verity’s husband, Jeremy, adds another layer of complexity to the situation. As the footage progresses, the tone becomes darker. The trailer suggests that Verity may not be as helpless as she appears, and that there are deeper secrets hidden within the house. The relationship between the characters becomes more intense, with moments that hint at manipulation, attraction, and danger.

The film is directed by Michael Showalter and written by Nick Antosca. It brings together a strong cast, including Josh Hartnett, who plays Jeremy Crawford. The project continues Amazon MGM Studios’ push into adapting popular books into films, especially those with strong fan followings. The trailer does not reveal everything about the story, but it clearly sets up a psychological thriller filled with suspense. It shows just enough to give a sense of the film’s mood without giving away key twists. The focus remains on the uneasy dynamic between Hathaway and Johnson’s characters, which appears to be at the center of the film.
