Will There Be a Season 2 of Unchosen?
As of now, Netflix has not renewed Unchosen for a second season. The streaming service has also not canceled it. It is still too early to know. Netflix typically waits several weeks after a show’s release before making renewal decisions. The platform looks at completion rates and how many new subscribers a show attracts.
Fra Fee Hints at Possibilities
Actor Fra Fee, who plays Sam, has spoken about a potential second season. He told Collider that he would love to continue Sam’s journey. “I hadn’t come across such a brilliant character in so long, really,” he said. “I would just love to explore him further”. He also noted that the show’s creator, Julie Gearey, likely has ideas for future installments. “Julie probably has some ideas up her sleeve already”.
But Fee also said the first season’s ending works as a satisfying conclusion. “It’s a very satisfying end to the show, and if it were to end here, it’s quite a satisfying one”.
The Show Is Marketed as a Limited Series
The biggest reason a second season might not happen is that Netflix is marketing Unchosen as a limited series. Multiple outlets describe it as a six episode limited series. Several similar Netflix dramas, such as those based on Harlan Coben’s books, have remained standalone stories. However, some limited series have been renewed for additional seasons when they become major hits.
Performance and Viewership
The early numbers look strong. Unchosen debuted at number one on Netflix’s English TV list with 10.4 million views in its first week. It also reached the top of Netflix’s most watched chart in the UK. Those numbers will help its chances.
The show’s creator, Julie Gearey, wrote the series as a self contained story. But she has not ruled out continuing it. For now, fans will have to wait for an official announcement from Netflix.
Where to Watch Unchosen
All six episodes of Unchosen are streaming exclusively on Netflix. The show is available worldwide. It is rated for mature audiences and deals with heavy themes including religious control, psychological manipulation, and sexual awakening.
The series is produced by Sid Gentle Films for Netflix. Julie Gearey created the show and served as the executive producer. The show is currently streaming and available to download for offline viewing.
