The directing duo Danny Philippou and Michael Philippou are set to make their second directorial feature with their upcoming A24 project. Previously the filmmaker brothers helmed their 2020 supernatural horror film Talk to Me under the A24 production banner. The film was a commercial and critical success.

Now, the brothers collaborate once again with A24 for their newest original horror movie, Bring Her Back. As per Deadline, the film will star Oscar-nominated actor Sally Hawkins in the lead role. This will be Hawkins’ first venture into the horror genre. She is best known for her acclaimed performances in movies like Happy-Go-Lucky, Blue Jasmine, the Paddington movies, and The Shape of Water. Her latest acting credit includes her role as Timothée Chalamet’s mother in last year’s prequel musical Wonka.

The Philippou brothers’ upcoming project is slated to start production this coming summer. Bring Her Back may or may not be on A24’s sales slate for next year’s Cannes. The studio is still aligning its priority pre-sales projects. The Philippou brothers will write and direct Bring Her Back. The rest of the details of the film are being kept under wraps. This project will not only mark the brothers’ reunion with the production company, but they will also be working with producers Samantha Jennings and Kristina Ceyton from Causeway Films, who previously produced Talk to Me

Apart from Bring Her Back, the Philippou brothers are also developing the sequel to the 2022 horror thriller. It was originally announced back in August 2023 following the movie’s successful theatrical run. Tentatively titled Talk 2 Me, the sequel currently has no release date attached to it.

Considering the success of Talk to Me, and the adroitness of the filmmakers in the horror genre, something good can be expected from their upcoming projects.
