“Breaking and Re-entering” opens with an ad from Chen Hai-jui, president of Wanxi Bank, who is proud to announce the money collected for helping the impoverished initiative. The money collected is stored in a vault in the bankโs basement. Through the advertisement, Chen also encourages people to invest more funds in the cause. The ad is aired, and a group of robbers see it and decide to loot the bank. The group of robbers is led by a charming young man called Chang Po-Chun, who is the heart of all the robbery operations. The plan comes from Chang, who can foresee the troubles that might occur and improves on the job to finish the robbery successfully.
The next group member is Kao, known for speaking nonsense but a skilled hacker who comes in handy to get past all security. The oldest member of the Group is Uncle Bin. He specializes in disguising himself as anyone the group would need to either distract or help get access to certain places and people. The group’s last member is Wen-hao. He is the group’s muscle and is always serious, but he loves the team and has a special affection towards Chang.
Will Chang’s Past Haunt His Present Heist?
The preparations for the loot are ongoing. Kao annoys the family man, Uncle Bin, as he struggles to dig holes leading to the vault. After finding an entry to the bank, Chang and Uncle Bin enter through a hole and prepare to crawl toward the vault. The first hurdle is to cross the lasers to reach the vault. Uncle Bin and Chang successfully reach the vault and, with Kaoโs help, open it.
The duo starts taking the money. But there is a hiccup when a drunken man sets off the alarms in the bank, making Chang and Uncle Bin hurry up. Luckily, Wen-hao is disguised as a security guard and monitors the real security. In time, Uncle Bin and Chang escape. The team meets in the van. However, inside the bank, Chang has a womanโs key card that they use to enter the vault. The woman, Shen Shu-wen, is Changโs ex-girlfriend, and Chang is lost in thought.

After seeing Shu-wenโs name on the key card, Chang wants to protect her and decides to return the money to the vault. The team agrees, especially because the man, Mr. Hu, who hired them to rob the bank, set a trap to kill all of them once they received the money. Chen is the man behind this robbery. He wants the money for himself rather than give it to the impoverished.
Meanwhile, Shu-wen will be leaving the bank soon. Chen wants to frame Shu-wen for the stolen money. After realizing this, Chang visits Shu-wen just as she receives a large sum of money in her account. Since Chang had disappeared from Shu-wen five years ago, she did not want to listen to Chang. But a goon tries to kill Shu-wen, and Chang and the team protect her.
Can the Team Pull Off One Last Heist to Right Past Wrongs?
On the other hand, Chen is annoyed with Mr. Hu as they have not received the money yet. But they also believe Shu-wen is dead. The team now wants Shu-wen to help enter the bank and return the money. At first, she is hesitant, and Shu-wen and Chang donโt want to be involved again. However, after understanding the situation, Shu-wen agrees. The plan is to let Shun-wen enter the bank as usual. A delivery will arrive, letting roaches out and causing panic in the bank. Because of the roaches, pest control will be called. Chang and Shu-wen will steal the key card, enter the vault, and place the money back.
Meanwhile, Uncle Bin disguises themself as Mr. Hu and steals information about Chenโs cryptocurrency to use it against Chen later. As the team preps, Shu-wen tends to Changโs wounds and finds a keychain she had given him five years ago. When Shu-wen asks Chang about his disappearance, Chang tells her that he was arrested and could not call her. But he still kept the key chain, meaning he still had feelings for Shu-wen.
Will Betrayal or Loyalty Win in the Final Showdown?
The next day, the plan is on. As expected, nobody seems to be afraid of the roaches except Shu-wenโs manager, who calls the pest control. The next problem arises when Mr. Huโs goons realize that a fake Mr. Hu is in the office. Subsequently, the hunt for a fake Mr. Hu begins. The situation gets chaotic. Chang and Shu-wen escape, and Uncle Bin and the real Mr Hu meet and duel. When Kao realizes Uncle Bin is in trouble, he hits the real Mr. Hu with his van, and the trio escapes.
Later, Uncle Bin wants to split the money and leave. But Wen-hao is loyal to Chang, and they fight. However, Kao comes to the rescue, and the trio is reunited again. They decide to help Chang. On the other hand, we learn that Chang was arrested because he had stopped to pick up the keychain Shu-wen had given him. Now Shu-wen asks Chang to take his team’s help instead of dealing with it alone, and Chang and Shu-wen kiss.
Can the team re-enter the bank?
The group now meets and plans a second attempt to return the stolen money to the bank. This time, Wen-hao meets Mr. Hu, pretending to betray Chang and promising to bring the money to Chen. Moreover, Wen-hao is ready to be the scapegoat and sell Shu-wen out for robbery. When Mr. Hu is annoyed with the deal, Chen kills him. It is D-day, and the group goes into the bank as robbers. They ask the employees to cooperate and plant a fake bomb to scare the bank’s employees.
Chen hears all the conversations because of Wen-hao. Chen decides to enter the vault and catch Chang and Shu-wen red-handed and take the money. Later, Uncle Bin disguises himself as Chenโs new henchman and waits for Wen-hao. The police are called. Since Kao is in a mask, he holds an employee named Ann hostage to talk to the police. It turns out Ann is the same girl Kao has been chatting with on a dating site. While Kao keeps the cops distracted, Chen and Chang face off. When Chang opens the bag, he finds pancakes and no money.

Then Chenโs henchman comes with Wen-hao. As Chen thinks he has the upper hand, Wen-hao joins Chang and fights Chen and his men. On the top floor, Kao puts the mask on Chenโs real henchman and rushes to help Chang and the employees. Seeing the mask, they believe the henchman to be the robber. In the basement, Kao uses pancake bombs, sending Chen flying, and the team escapes.
When the police arrive, they only see Chen and his men, take Chen home, and ask him to open his safe. They find all the stolen money inside. On top of that, the cops get a notification about Chenโs crypto fraud. It turns out Wen-hao had put the money in Chenโs safe thanks to Uncle Bin, who had put a camera inside his office and knew the passcode to open the safe.
The henchman refuses to steal anything from the bank. But the bank manager is sure it is the henchman because of the mask. The reverse heist is successful, and the team gets out feeling thrilled. Also, Uncle Bin and Wen-hao had stolen Chenโs precious Rolex from his safe when they put the stolen money inside.
What Happens in the Post-Credit Scene?
In post-credits, we see Kao go on a date with Ann, who thinks Kao is familiar. But he distracts her. Wen-hao continues training in fitness and has a picture of Shu-wen on the punching bag as he practices. Shu-wen and Chang get back together and are happy. Uncle Bin is delighted to attend his daughterโs school play and spend time with his family.
In the end, Chen, the mastermind behind the robbery, is arrested along with his henchman. Chang manages to clear Shu-wenโs name for any wrongdoing. Chang and his team escape the cops without anyone suspecting them. After spending his life not being understood except by the team, Kao has finally met his match in Ann. They share the same sense of humor and seem attracted to each other.
Chang and Shu-wen are seen spending romantic time together, which can only mean that they have started dating again. Whether the team will get together for another heist is unknown. But at the moment, the team seems happy with their respective lives. It also appears that Wen-hao is romantically attracted to Chang, and Chang is oblivious to it. However, Wen-hao cannot completely accept Shu-wen as he is jealous and finds other ways to deal with his feelings.
