Cannes 2024 was a whirlwind! While some whispered it wasn’t the strongest year for films, there were certainly unforgettable moments. From Francis Ford Coppola’s passion project “Megalopolis” finally finding a home to Iranian filmmaker Mohammad Rasoulof’s inspiring journey to Cannes with “The Seed of the Sacred Fig” after facing imprisonment in his home country, the festival buzzed with stories beyond the silver screen.

Un Certain Regard, a sidebar section showcasing new talent, awarded its prizes on Friday. “The Damned” and “On Becoming a Guinea Fowl” tied for Best Director, while “L’Histoire De Souleymane” took the Jury Prize and “Black Dog” won the Un Certain Regard Prize.
