Emma Stone Reunites With ‘Poor Things’ Cast and Director in ‘Kinds of Kindness’ New Trailer

After giving a phenomenal performance in Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things, actress Emma Stone has once again collaborated with the visionary auteur to deliver something exciting. Oscar-nominated filmmaker Lanthimos and two-time Oscar-winning actress Emma Stone have once again come together for their new film Kinds of Kindness, which recently released its first trailer. 

What does Emma Stone’s upcoming film hold in its store?

The first trailer of Kinds of Kindness has been released, and as always, it’s a treat for the eyes to see Emma Stone on screen. Although the teaser doesn’t give much detail about the film’s premise, since Lanthimos is behind the camera, his directorial work certainly cannot be doubted. The 46-second-long teaser features Emma Stone’s character speeding in a purple Dodge Challenger with Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams” playing in the background and is later seen dancing in a parking lot. Fans will also get to witness a brief glimpse of the other cast members of the film, which includes Willem Dafoe and Margaret Qualley, who were also Stone’s co-stars in her latest film Poor Things. 

Lanthimos is known for frequently collaborating with the actors he has worked with before. Even his upcoming film marks his reunion with several cast members of the film. The film reunites Lanthimos and Joe Alwyn, who previously worked together on the 2018 period drama The Favourite. Apart from his reunion with actors, the film also marks his reunion with screenwriter Efthimis Filippou. Lanthimos co-wrote the script of Kinds of Kindness with Filippou. The duo previously collaborated for The Lobster, Killing of a Sacred Dear, and Dogtooth.

Talking about Lanthimos’ legacy of delivering masterpieces while teaming up with frequent collaborators, how can we miss out on one of his best allies, Emma Stone? Their latest collaboration on the 2023 film Poor Things earned Stone her second Oscar trophy for Best Actress for her impeccable performance as Bella Baxter. 

Apart from Poor Things and Kinds of Kindness, Lanthimos and Stone have previously teamed up for The Favourite, which earned Stone the Academy nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. They also collaborated for 2022’s silent short film Bleat. And now they have once again come together for the upcoming film Kinds of Kindness. But this isn’t their last collaboration, as Stone is also reportedly in talks to star in the director’s upcoming film, the remake of Save the Green Planet! 

Before Lanthimos finalized the title of his upcoming film Kinds of Kindness, it was temporarily titled AND. The official synopsis of the film reads: “Triptych fable, following a man without choice who tries to take control of his own life; a policeman who is alarmed that his wife who was missing-at-sea has returned and seems a different person; and a woman determined to find a specific someone with a special ability, who is destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader.”

Kinds of Kindness will hit theaters on June 21, 2024.
