Liam Neeson’s Latest Action Flim Ends Four-Year Rotten Tomatoes Drought

After every storm, there is a sunny day. That sunny day finally arrived for the action superstar Liam Neeson’s life as his recently released film “In the Land of Saints and Sinners “finally broke his terrible streak at Rotten Tomatoes. 

Liam Neeson is a renowned name in the film industry who has dominated the action genre for almost two decades. However, a series of his recent films saw a drastic fall. His latest film broke that terrible streak, and now it seems like the actor is back on track to making successful films. 

Liam Neeson is back with a fresh Rotten Tomatoes rating

Liam Neeson made his acting debut in the 1981 film Excalibur, and since then, he has never failed to prove his versatility. Amidst his glorious career, the actor also shares a fair of struggle, but despite any hurdle, he rose back on his feet, and now, recently, he has delivered a critically acclaimed film that has balanced out all the films that couldn’t make it to critical appreciation. 

Some of his previous films saw a drastic fall, including a Tomatometer low of 11% for 2022’s Backlight (also the lowest of his career) and a high of 44% for 2021’s The Ice Road. Nevertheless, he made a huge comeback on the Tomatometer with his latest film, In the Land of Saints and Sinners, which received an impressive rating of 81%. This was his first film since 2020 to get a “fresh” rating and his highest-rated movie since 2018’s Ordinary Love.

The Rotten Tomatoes consensus is: “Well-written and classically constructed, In the Land of Saints and Sinners is one of the better action thrillers Liam Neeson has made in recent years.”

In his latest film, Neeson is seen playing Finbar Murphy, a former assassin who attempts to leave behind his past by moving to a secluded, quiet Irish village. However, it does not take long for him to get in trouble, landing himself in the crosshairs of violent I.R.A. members.

With the release of his latest film, the actor will now be seen in a completely opposite genre film. Leaving his action avatar behind, Neeson will next be seen in an upcoming comedy film, The Naked Gun reboot.

Apart from his highly anticipated film The Naked Gun, Neeson will appear in other upcoming films, including The Ice Road 2, Cold Storage, and The Riker’s Ghost. 

In the Land of Saints and Sinners is out now. The Naked Gun is scheduled to release on July 28, 2025.
