The official awards of the 82nd Venice International Film Festival have been announced, and โ€œFather Mother Sister Brother,โ€ directed by Jim Jarmusch (USA, Ireland, France), won the Golden Lion Award.

According to the report of Mansour Jahani, an independent and international cinema journalist, at the closing ceremony of the 82nd Venice international film festival, the winners were announced by the five international Juries during the Awards Ceremony that was held on Saturday 6th September at 7:00 pm 2025 at the Sala Grande movie theater in the city of Venice, Italy, and the winners of various competition, including; The Main Competition, the Orizzonti competition, the Immersive competition and the Orizzonti Extra were introduced and the prestigious Golden Lion award for the best film and other awards of this film event were awarded to the winners.

The winners of the International Competition

The International Jury for the main Competition of the 82nd Venice Film Festival, consisted of 7 international film personalities including; French director and screenwriter Stรฉphane Brizรฉ; Italian director and screenwriter Maura Delpero; Romanian director, writer and producer Cristian Mungiu; Iranian director and writer Mohammad Rasoulof; Brazilian actress, writer and screenwriter Fernanda Torres; and Chinese actress Zhao Tao, announced their opinions as follows:

Golden Lion award

Golden Lion for Best Film, to: โ€œFather Mother Sister Brotherโ€ by Jim Jarmusch (USA, Ireland, France)

Grand Jury Prize

Silver Lion – Grand Jury Prize to: โ€œThe Voice of Hind Rajabโ€ by Kaouther Ben Hania (Tunisia, France)

Best Director

Silver Lion for Best Director to: Benny Safdie for the film โ€œThe Smashing Machineโ€ (USA)

Best Actress

Coppa Volpi for Best Actress to: Xin Zhilei in the film โ€œThe Sun Rises on Us Allโ€ by Cai Shangjun (China)

Best Actor

Coppa Volpi for Best Actor to: Toni Servillo in the film โ€œLa graziaโ€ by Paolo Sorrentino (Italy)

Best Screenplay

Special Jury Prize

โ€œMarcello Mastroianniโ€ Award for Best Young Actor or Actress to: Luna Wedler in the film โ€œSilent Friendโ€ by Ildikรณ Enyedi (Germany, Hungary, France)

The winners of the Orizzonti competition

The international jury of Orizzonti, chaired by French director and screenwriter Julia Ducournau, the international jury of Orizzonti will also include: Italian director and video artist Yuri Ancarani; Argentine film critic Fernando Enrique Juan Lima; Australian director Shannon Murphy; and American artist and filmmaker RaMell Ross. They announced their opinions as follows:

Chaired by Scottish filmmaker Charlotte Wells, the international jury of the โ€œLuigi De Laurentiisโ€ Venice Award for a Debut Film will also include French-Tunisian director and producer Erige Sehiri and Italian director and screenwriter Silvio Soldini. has decided to award:

The 82nd Venice Film Festival, as the world’s oldest film event, is chaired by Alberto Barbera and with the screening of works by directors from different countries in the Competition, including; Main Competition, Orizzonti Competition, Immersive competition, as well as the out of competition; Special Screening, Orizzonti Extra, Venice Classics, College Cinema nad Best of Experiences in Best of Worlds, was held from August 27 to September 7, 2025, in Venice, Italy.
