Orb: On Movements of the Earth (Season 1) Episode 21 “The Times Are Changing” Recap:
The episode opens with Schmidt and the group getting out of their carriage to talk to the knights. When the knights question Schmidt about the reasons for traveling, Schmidt lies, saying they are tinsmiths and are escorting Draka. Somehow, Schmidt has an authorization letter for it as well. One of the knights wants a cloth to cover his torch, so he peers inside the carriage. To stop the man, Draka offers her mantle. When Schmidt thanks Draka for saving them, Draka says she has a lot to lose if their mission ends here. Mainly, Jolenta’s inspiration would have ended.
Who betrays the Heretic Liberation Front?
While the group’s goal is to carry out Jolenta’s plan, Draka also wants to carry on with Jolenta’s memory. Furthermore, Draka tells Schmidt that she has promised to send a letter on behalf of Jolenta. The group reaches their next destination, where another group led by Bolko waits for Schmidt. During Draka’s introduction, Schmidt briefly explains who Draka is and says they have no choice but to trust Draka. Now Bolka enquires about Jolenta, and Schmidt confirms she is dead for the sake of the mission. Before beginning, Schmidt reminds everyone to make their conviction a reality. Slowly but surely, they will achieve their convictions.
Before beginning the printing on the printing press, Schmidt gives the title. However, Draka suggests using Jolenta’s name as a publisher since nobody knows of Jolenta’s name as the leader of the Heretic Liberation Front. The group likes the idea. A new problem arises as the types are broken, and they need lead. To make things work faster, Draka gives the bloodied coins to melt and uses the lead to start printing. The printing begins, and the first set of manuscripts is ready. So Schmidt sends some of his men to fetch lead from the market.
For now, Schmidt is relaxed as everything goes according to the plan. A while later, Frei comes to Schmidt with a bloodied sword and clothes. Frei asks if the horses are the only escape route. So Schmidt confirms. It looks like Frei has betrayed the organization. When Frei went to the market, he reported to the knights. Without the horses, the group can’t escape. This time, Frei says he has fulfilled his conviction as he has always hated the heretics. In the end, Frei tries to tell the church is right, but Schmidt kills Frei for betraying the group.
Orb: On Movements of the Earth (Season 1) Episode 21 “The Times Are Changing” Ending Explained:
The organization regroups to think of a plan as carriages are approaching. Since the horizon is clear, no matter where anyone runs, the knights will be able to spot them. So they decide to run in different directions, and the survivors will continue the work. However, Draka suggests that the group work together to help Draka escape. Since it is the question of publishing the book, Draka thinks she can manage to do that. The plan is for Draka to talk to the knights, and the group helps steal a horse on which Draka will leave. Unfortunately, the organization is unable to decide on the best course of action. So Draka decides to toss a coin to decide. The result is for the group to disperse together. However, Schmidt gives an order to help Draka escape.
In this episode, Draka faces a pivotal moment, forced to compromise her steadfast convictions as she parts with the bloodied coins for a greater cause—perhaps influenced by Jolenta’s words of wisdom. As the title suggests, change is inevitable, and with this shift, Draka takes it upon herself to see the book’s completion through.
But before she can take the next step, a confrontation looms between the heretic group and Nowak. The organization has devised a plan to help Draka escape, but questions remain—will she flee alone, or will Schmidt choose to follow her? If the inquisitors catch them in the act, will Draka be able to use her connection to Nowak to her advantage and turn the situation in her favor? And if she does manage to slip away unscathed, who will she seek out to finally bring the book to publication?
