Orb: On Movements of the Earth (Season 1) Episode 7 “Matters Of The Truth” Recap:
The episode begins with Jolenta getting discriminated against for being the only girl in an astronomy institute. While Jolenta’s peers are allowed to take part in discussions, Jolenta is prohibited from taking part in them. As soon as her peers go inside a room for their lecture, Jolenta runs to a nearby well and takes off her gloves so it does not get dirty. The well is a dried-up one, so she slides down the rope and crawls beneath the well that is below a room. In the room above Count Piast and others are present. What Jolenta overhears is shocking. The Arabian heretics have revised ancient Greek astronomy. After hearing this, Jolenta runs back to the university just in time for her peers to come out of a lecture.
The others envy Jolenta as she has a lot of time to rest. Jolenta asks her peers to let her join their research group. But the others are unsure if Jolenta can handle or is suitable enough for this sort of work. Just then, another peer, Kolbe, arrives and talks nicely to Jolenta. Now, the others say Kolbe has a rough time as Jolenta is Kolbe’s assistant. However, Kolbe thinks Jolenta is a capable assistant. As Jolenta and Kolbe walk away, Kolbe tells her that there will be several moments in life when Jolenta will be rejected for no apparent reason. Still, Jolenta should continue pursuing her passion without losing her heart. Jolenta has completed her first essay. At first glance, Kolbe thinks the essay is brilliant and promises to submit it to Count Piast.
What conditions does Badeni put forth for Oczy?
After that, Kolbe asks Jolenta to visit home because if Count Piast likes the work, then she will be moved to the observatory from the library. When this happens, Jolenta will be busy. Meanwhile, Badeni tells Oczy about the main points in the documents. The first point is that the Sun is in the center of all the planets. The second is that orbits are perfect circles.
The third is that the planets all move at a set speed. Unfortunately, Badeni does not think the content in the documents is ready to be published yet. He can already predict how some concepts can easily be refuted. Badeni believes he is a great man who can make sense of the document and make bold statements with conviction. However, Badeni has three conditions for Oczy before they proceed with the task.
The first condition is that there will not be any successors. If Badeni fails to do the job, then Oczy must burn all of Badeni’s work. This is because Badeni wants to be the one to finish the job, and if he can’t, he does not want to be a stepping stone for someone else. The second condition is that Oczy must participate as an observation assistant. The third condition is that if they make a profit, then they split the profit, with 90% going to Badeni and 10% to Oczy. However, Oczy refuses to oblige with the third condition, as Rafal has requested 10% to go to Potocki. So Badeni burns the note and tells Oczy to give his 10% to Potocki if he wishes, but Badeni is not going to share the profit.
Orb: On Movements of the Earth (Season 1) Episode 7 “Matters Of The Truth” Ending Explained:
What advice does Jolenta’s father give her?
Meanwhile, Jolenta meets her father, who realizes something is worrying his daughter. Subsequently, Jolenta explains the situation at work. Jolenta’s father understands the situation but tells Jolenta that she is just 14 years old and the only girl who works there. It would be better if Jolenta did not attract any attention. However, she says that the day her father gave her the gloves, she became a true scholar. On the other hand, Oczy and Badeni put up an astronomical problem on the bulletin board as they needed someone to provide more insight into the problems in the document. That will be achieved when someone solves the problem Badeni and Oczy put up. At university, Kolbe tells Jolenta that Count Piast loved the essay. However, Kolbe presented the essay in his name but says Jolenta should be proud as it is her work.
Why does Jolenta lie to Count Piast?
When Jolenta gets upset, Kolbe says that an astronomy essay by a woman is dangerous and may have repercussions. If there is some error, then Jolenta may be blamed for witchcraft and beheaded. Kolbe says he has done her a favor. However, Count Piast overhears the conversation and asks Jolenta if it was her essay. Now, Jolenta is driven by fear and says she didn’t write the essay. Sadly, she regrets her decision to lie.
On her way, Jolenta comes across the problem Badeni and Oczy have created. Jolenta realizes she needs astronomical records to solve the problem. So Jolenta sneaks into the room she is forbidden from entering and takes the required books. That evening, Jolenta puts up the solution on the bulletin board but with a man’s name. Seeing this, Badeni and Oczy are shocked, as it has been only half a day since they posted the problem. Immediately, Badeni and Oczy stop Jolenta before she can leave.
Even though Jolenta wants to pursue her passion, she has been brainwashed by all the men around her, including her father. That is the reason Jolenta puts up the solution in a man’s name, fearing something may harm her if she puts up her name. Now that Badeni and Oczy have seen Jolenta, it might work in her favor as she will get to do real and life-changing astronomical work. The trio are also a perfect combination, considering they have been misfits in their own lives. On the other hand, the question remains whether Jolenta will admit to Badeni that she is the one who has solved this problem. The mystery will be solved in the next episode.
