In “Queen of Tears” Episodes 5 & 6, we see Hae-in and Hyun-woo slowly trying to understand that they still have feelings for each other. They do things for each other without admitting that it is coming out of love. Eun-seong and the group make bold moves and try to take advantage of the fact that Hae-in and Hyun-woo are away, busy taking care of Hae-in’s health. They make fast moves to make sure Hyun-woo is kicked out of the house and subsequently to attain their wealth and destroy the Hong family.

Queen of Tears Episode 5 Recap:
The episode begins with Hyun-woo and Hae-in embracing each other after Hae-in seems vulnerable. It starts to rain, and Hyun-woo takes Hae-in to a shelter under a tree. They watch the rain when they hear Hyun-woo’s family hysterically looking for Hae-in worried. They are relieved to see her doing okay, and take Hae-in and Hyun-woo home and ask them to pretend they don’t exist and leave them in Hyun-woo’s childhood room.
His parent’s gesture moves Hae-in as she does not receive it from her own family. Hyun-woo treats Hae-in’s wounds, and she tells him that the line on her palms, which reveals that the lifeline, is short. Hyun-woo is angry and scolds her as there is a chance of her getting cured. They are about to kiss, and Hyun-woo runs away. He ends up drinking with his brother. Hae-in is impatient and comes out looking for Hyun-woo and she overhears him saying he intended to go back to the room once Hae-in is asleep.
Du-gwan revealed Hyun-woo’s divorce to another person in the village, who shared it with his mother. Luckily for Du-gwan, the older woman has dementia. Soo-cheol shows his mother a viral video of Hae-in at her in-laws. His mother is annoyed to see Hae-in so happy and eating everything the villagers give because she is never like that at home. In a flashback, we see Hae-in getting rid of the nursery because she lost a baby. However, Hyun-woo is mad at her as she is cold about it. That is the time he decides to sleep separately, and he moves into the nursery.
However, we see Hae-in privately being sad about the situation. In the present, Hyun-woo visits the room and it turns out Hae-in has not slept at all, and she is cold towards Hyun-woo. They decide to leave, and outside, the old lady tells Hyun-woo not to worry about the divorce. Everyone is stunned, but luckily, she starts calling Du-gwan honey, thinking it is her husband, and the others cover up, saying she has dementia and she is saying random things.
Hyun-woo’s family discusses Hyun-woo’s married life. Mi-sun tells the family that she had tried to stop them from dating ages ago. Nevertheless, they were so much in love and stood by each other. She wonders what happened to that love and how they can be the way they are now. Hae-in and Hyun-woo reach home, and it is raining. Hyun-woo holds an umbrella for Hae-in, but she notices that he is getting drenched so that she can be okay.
They are surprised when Eun-seong comes out to receive them. He takes Hae-in inside. It turns out Hae-in’s mother has invited him to stay over. Hae-in leaves to freshen up, and Eun-seong asks if his presence is making him uncomfortable. Hyun-woo says if it is, he will leave. Eun-seong declines, so Hyun-woo refuses to answer. Hae-in freshens up and sees an extended line of her lifeline on her palm and wonders when she got that.
Eun-seong tells Hae-in that Hyun-woo is not bothered by her male friend living under the same roof. He also figures that they are sleeping separately. Turns out Grace had already told Eun-seong about their relationship and also told him that despite it all, everyone listens to Hyun-woo. Eun-seong comes to the house to make sure Hyun-woo is kicked out. Soo-cheol shows Eun-seong how all the houses are connected to the basement.
Hae-in comes home and does not want to eat, and her mother projects her insecurity on her, asking if she will only be happy around her in-laws. They argue and realize they don’t have any reason to be happy around each other. Soo-cheol proposes a 1 trillion dollar project to Man Dae and Beom Jun. At first, they are all in for the idea until Hyun-woo tells them about the risks, and they ask Soo-cheol to come up with a better plan. Soo-cheol is mad at Hyun-woo but he gets a call from someone he had asked for dash-cam footage. He then gives it to the tech people to retrieve and restore some data.
Seul Hee is inspecting Man Dae’s meals, and Beom Ja disrespects her. Once everyone leaves, Seul Hee breaks the CCTV camera and hits Beom Ja. She complains to Man Dae, who does not believe this to be true. She then visits her contacts and asks the private detectives for information about Seul Hee. Hae-in is in a hallucinated state, and Eun-seong saves her. Hae-in is cold towards Hyun-woo again. Eun-seong asks Grace to check if Hae-in is having a medical check-up elsewhere.
Hae-in’s doctors tell her she has a low WBC count and they cannot go ahead with the procedure. But Hae-in is adamant about going to Germany and going through with the procedure. Beom-ja overhears this, and Hae-in asks her to promise she won’t reveal it to anyone. Beom-ja consoles her by saying one of her friends had the tumor, but she is healthy now. However, Beom-ja gets to know while she is in jail that her friend has died because of a relapse.
Beom-ja sees Hae-in go to Germany without Hyun-woo. She waits and confronts Hyun-woo who didn’t know Hae-in was going to Germany. He spends time with his friend while all the time his mind is in Germany. Hae-in gets disappointing news in Germany as they refuse to go ahead with the procedure. Hyun-woo finds Hae-in, and they talk. He tells her she didn’t keep her promise of not making him cry as she had told when she proposed. She admits to wanting to have Hyun-woo by her side. They cry and kiss. In the epilogue we see Hyun-woo was the one who had drawn a line on the lifeline on Hae-in’s palm.
Queen of Tears Episode 6 Recap:
The episode begins with the tech company finding Da-hye in the footage that Hyun-woo had given. She is the one who had lured the bear in. Eun-seong and Da-hye enter Hyun-woo’s room and try to find some dirt on him. Seems like Eun-seong and Da-Hye are working to bring the Hong family down, and they have a special relationship. Eun-seong finds a locker in Hyun-woo’s room. They have taken Grace’s help and turned the CCTV cameras off.
Grace is using Hyun-woo’s subordinate to find out why Hyun-woo and Hae-in are in Germany. Hae-in and Hyun-woo go out for some cup noodles, and Hae-in asks him to mourn her if she dies since no one else will. Eun-seong finds the tech company card on Hyun-woo’s desk, and he pays them a visit. Beom Ja yells at Soo-cheol for not sharing wild ginseng with Hae-in. In Germany, Hae-in and Hyun-woo are getting closer.
Hyun-woo asks if he can sleep with her in the same room for the rest of their lives, and she agrees. Hae-in tells Hyun-woo that other people’s husbands have made a fuss about the money when their wives were on deathbeds, but she has the luckiest husband in the world. Hyun-woo visits the church and prays. Yang-gi calls Hyun-woo to ask why he isn’t camping with his friends, and he tells him that he is in Germany with his wife.
Hyun-woo meets with the research center and hospital that the Queens have been funding and where Hae-in is supposed to get treatment. He threatens the doctor that he will take them to court if they don’t find a way to help Hae-in. Hae-in gets an email from the hospital saying they can do an injection therapy to increase White Blood Cells, but the guarantee of the treatment cannot be given. Hyun-woo advice Hae-in on how to prepare her body for it and does not reveal he is the reason for the treatment to take place.
Grace yells at Da-hye for not being careful and for being seen on the CCTV footage Hyun-woo had given the tech company. If Eun-seong had not found it, their whole plan would have been destroyed. Grace gives Seon Hwa a massage and tells her that she had mentioned Hae-in’s will to Hyun-woo, and that is probably why he is getting in the way of Soo-cheol’s plans. Grace lies and plants a seed of hate and doubt while Hyun-woo is away.
In a flashback we see two kids in the orphanage bullying Soo-cheol and Hae-in protecting him. One of the girl kids gets to know he is from a rich family and asks to marry him, but he refuses, and she gets angry. At the family lunch, people wonder why Soo-cheol’s child does not look like him, and Grace covers for Da-hye by saying that there was a DNA test done. Soo-cheol feels bad for Da-hye as he is the foolish one in the family, and because of that, she is mistreated. Da-hye looks at him with sympathy like she may be developing feelings for him.
Du-gwan’s electoral competition does not die down as people in the village are eating his competitor’s apples after seeing Hae-in eat them. Hae-in asks if Hyun-woo’s first love was his village principal’s daughter, and he denies it. Hae-in tells him that even if they weren’t together, if they think about the person or make de-tours to watch them from afar, then it is still love. Hyun-woo asks if she is talking from experience, and she says maybe.
Grace finds the divorce papers in Hyun-woo’s locker. Hae-in and Hyun-woo tried to find the locks they had tied to the bridge three years ago but couldn’t find them. He buys a four-leaf clover as it is a sign of good luck in Germany. Hae-in is called in for her injection, and she is more worried about her weight. She goes inside the room, but she starts to see a little boy and follows him. The nurse tells Hyun-woo Hae-in has disappeared. He looks for her for an hour, and she finds him saying she is hungry.
Hae-in says that in her hallucination, she saw her dead older brother. She tells him that when she was nine years old, he had saved her from drowning, but in her place, he had died. Her mother could not forgive her and she had felt guilty for a long time. She tells Hyun-woo that when he dies, she will come like an angel to pick him up so he won’t be afraid. The tech company closes down. Eun-seong gifts a painting to Man Dae, but it comes with a camera that the Hong family does not know.
Seul Hee sees a listening device, and the family brings in the tech team. They find the headphones and recorder in Hyun-woo’s room. Man Dae gets bad news of embezzlement, and the family suspects that Hyun-woo is doing as well. Seon Hwa calls Hae-in and informs her about the situation but she tells her that someone may have planted it in his room as the house was empty for a long time. She asks Hyun-woo not to receive any calls from home.

What does Beom-ja find out about Seul Hee?
Hyun-woo is trying to reach the tech company but can’t reach them. He asks Yang-gi to take the memory card from his car that is parked outside the tech company and check the dash-cam footage. Beom-ja learns Seul Hee’s real identity. She is Oh Sun-yeong, who was declared dead a few years ago. She was in jail and, while there, gave birth to a boy. The family also finds the divorce papers in Hyun-woo’s room. Hae-in wants to feel like an ordinary person, so she decides to wait in line for a kebab.
Hyun-woo decides to buy a whole lot of four-leaf clover as Hae-in needs all the luck in the world to survive her illness. He also finds the lock that he and Hae-in had put in three years ago. He comes running to her, but because of a traffic light, they are left standing watching each other. However, Hae-in receives a photo from her family about the divorce paper. Hyun-woo comes to her, running out of joy, but she pushes him away, asking him about the divorce papers. He tells her he was sorry that he couldn’t tell her. In the epilogue, we see Hae-in’s first love was and is Hyun-woo.
Hae-in and Hyun-woo are slowly starting to come to terms with their feelings, but the discovery of the divorce paper will be a barrier to this love story. Hyun-woo is yet to find out about Eun-seong entering the tech company, and Beom-ja is yet to reveal Seul Hee’s real identity, but will that be enough to calm Hae-in as the divorce papers are real? Will Eun-seong and the team get what they want? Will they be able to break the Hong family apart and bring them to the streets? After all this, will Hae-in be able to listen to Hyun-woo’s side of the story, and will she recover from her health issues? In front of her family, will Hae-in defend Hyun-woo, or will she get through the divorce and take the family’s side? Many unanswered questions will be revealed in the next few episodes.
