Scarlett Johansson joins the Jurassic World franchise
Ever since its inception, the Jurassic Park franchise, a.k.a. Jurassic World, has brought us a thrilling experience of the Dinosaur world. The first film of the franchise, directed by Steven Spielberg, was made in 1993 under the production banner of Universal Pictures. Now, the makers of the film are once again bringing the new Jurassic World film, the latest in the 30-year-old franchise. To fans’ astonishment, there will be a newcomer to the franchise. As per Hollywood Reporter, MCU fame actress Scarlett Johansson is in talks to join Universal’s new Jurassic World movie.
The production house, Universal, is swiftly moving with the film, which is scheduled to mark its release on July 2, 2025. The upcoming Jurassic World film is helmed by filmmaker Gareth Edwards. Edwards’ involvement in the film as a director came after David Leitch exited following a short attachment to the project. The film is penned by David Koepp.
The Jurassic World has been one of the most celebrated franchises of all time. Following the success of Spielberg’s film adaptation of Michael Crichton’s novel, the franchise released many dinosaur-centered films, including the Spielberg-directed sequel, The Lost World (1997) and Joe Johnston’s Jurassic Park III (2001). In 2015, Universal revived the franchise with the $1.67 billion grosser Jurassic World, which spawned sequels Fallen Kingdom (2018) and Dominion (2022).
Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard led the most recent trilogy of films, which was helmed by filmmaker Colin Trevorrow.
As mentioned, Johansson will be joining the franchise with the upcoming Jurassic World film. Johansson certainly needs no introduction, as with her Marvel character, Black Widow, the actress has become a household name. However, apart from that, she has appeared in a wide range of films, proving her versatility in different genres. Her other acting credits include films like Marriage Story and Jojo Rabbit, which earned her two Oscar nominations. Her upcoming projects include a big-budget Apple feature co-starring Channing Tatum, which is set to be released later this year. Additionally, she has a voice role in the upcoming animated feature Transformers One.
