Greta Gerwig’s Vision and Chronicles of Narnia: After breaking all box office records with her blockbuster film “Barbie,” filmmaker Greta Gerwig has moved on to her next big project. The “Barbie” fever was not yet over, and Gerwig had already stepped into another project with the vision to once again dominate the film industry with her creative approach. Gerwig is undeniably an “incredible visionary,” and this isn’t what I say, but these are the words of Netflix’s CEO Ted Sarandos.

To everyone’s excitement, Gerwig is currently working on Netflix‘s “The Chronicles of Narnia” series, and this is certainly going to expand her growing list of must-see works.

Fans will now get to witness Chronicles of Narnia from Gerta Gerwig’s vision

After “Barbie,” Greta Gerwig will now bestow the viewers with “The Chronicles of Narnia,” as she has now taken the director’s chair. Her collaboration with Netflix seems to bring something exciting for the viewers. Meanwhile, Gerwig’s work has already made an impact on Netflix’s CEO Ted Sarandos as he recently claimed during an interview that Gerwig is an “incredible visionary.”

Talking about Gerwig’s upcoming project, he emphasized that her take on the source material will also be “rooted in faith.” Sarandos told Time: “It won’t be counter to how the audience may have imagined those worlds, but it will be bigger and bolder than they thought.” Gerwig, who recently became Time’s Woman of the Year, shared during an interview what allured her to make “The Chronicles of Narnia.” According to Gerwig, “The Chronicles of Narnia” felt “euphorically dreamlike” to her. In the same interview, Gerwig reflected on her notion to make the film. She said,

“It’s connected to the folklore and fairy stories of England, but it’s a combination of different traditions. As a child, you accept the whole thing — that you’re in this land of Narnia, there’s fauns, and then Father Christmas shows up. It doesn’t even occur to you that it’s not schematic. I’m interested in embracing the paradox of the worlds that Lewis created, because that’s what’s so compelling about them.”

Gerwig is currently engrossed in working on her adaptation of author C.S. Lewis’s “The Chronicles of Narnia” series — starting with the first installment: “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” (1950). Since the project is in its developing stage, a release date is yet to be announced.

Greta Gerwig shared her approach to filmmaking

Every filmmaker has a unique style when it comes to pouring their passion into vision. Every visionary filmmaker works according to their plans and ideas, but when we talk about Great Gerwig, her approach is slightly different from all. During the same interview with Time, Gerwig shared that she doesn’t follow any specific plan when it comes to choosing her next project, rather she relies on her intuitions.

She said,

“You don’t need specialized knowledge to watch a movie. All you need is your human experience. Everybody knows what it is to love people, and everybody knows what it is to lose people […] There are a lot of smart people who can guide you along and make your movie the best it can be, but at the end of the day, it’s always you making the choice. You’re your own Wizard of Oz, in a wonderful way. Hang on. No, I guess the Wizard of Oz is a fraud. He leaves on that balloon. It’s Glinda! So maybe you’re some combination of Glinda and the man behind the curtain.”

Gerwig adheres to the notion, “The power was always within you.” And well, her power of vision has been evident to all, and with every project, she is becoming more of a modern-day auteur than simply a filmmaker.
