Ti West Talks About The Future of the X Trilogy: Ti West’s famous American slasher film, the X Trilogy, will soon mark its end, as the last film of the series, “Maxine,” is in post-production & nearing completion. The previous two films of the series were well-acclaimed and box-office successes. Therefore, the expectations for the upcoming film are already high. While the teaser of the film is yet to be released, the writer and director of the film, West, seems to have further plans to expand the trilogy series. During an interview, West subtly suggested that there could be one more chapter to the X trilogy.
Ti West’s Plan on Expanding X trilogy
The final installment of the X trilogy, “MaXXXine” is soon to be released in the theaters, as per the filmmaker Ti West. With the release of its third installment, the X trilogy will mark its ending. But wait… the director of the film series seems to have some bigger plans in store for the franchise. Recently, during a conversation with the YouTube channel What’s Under the Bed, West shared some insights on his upcoming film. Though he didn’t reveal any specific information about the film, the short and sweet information was sufficient to content the eager fans. The filmmaker said, “It’s coming along. I’m almost done editing it,” adding that things were going swimmingly. “So far, so good.”
While the little news is indeed thrilling for the audience, there is much more to it when it comes to his future vision of the franchise.
When the first film of the trilogy, “X,” was released in 2022, it was met with critical acclaim and turned out to be a huge box-office success. The premise of the film highly influenced the horror genre, giving rise to the second installment of the film “Pearl.” West revealed that “Pearl” was initially made with the idea of a follow-up for “X,” but it turned out to be e a prequel, giving a background story to one of the characters introduced in “X.”
In both the films “X” and “Pearl,” Mia Goth gave an impactful performance as the titular character. Now, she will once again grace the screen with her role as Maxine, a psychotic young woman in the upcoming film.

While “MaXXXine” was supposed to be the last film of the trilogy, West suggested that there’s still a chance that there will be at least one more chapter in Maxine’s story. Giving a very subtle hint and logical reason to make a fourth installment, West said, “ There is this one weird idea that I have that is kind of… if I explained it, it would make sense. But we’ll see what happens. Let’s get this movie done first and see if people like it. Then we’ll go from there.”
Considering the success of the previous film and the high anticipation of the upcoming film “MaXXXine,” there is a possibility that there could be a fourth installment.
Starring Mia Goth in the lead, alongside Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, and Michelle Monaghan, the film revolves around the story of Maxine (portrayed by Goth), who is the only survivor of a massacre and sets out for fame and success in 1980s Los Angeles.
