Tu Yaa Main is a survival thriller film directed by Bejoy Nambiar and starring Adarsh Gourav and Shanaya Kapoor. It is a remake of the 2018 Thai film The Pool. The story follows Maruti, a rapper from Nalasopara, and Avani Shah, a high-profile influencer known as Ms Vanity. They come from very different socioeconomic backgrounds. During a collaboration getaway at a secluded estate, they get trapped in an empty and very deep swimming pool with a deadly crocodile. The film shows their struggle for survival as they try to outwit the predator and deal with their own rivalry. Adarsh Gourav gives a fine performance as a dream-filled singer from the Mumbai slums. Shanaya Kapoor also delivers a strong performance as a SOBO influencer. The movie has good twists and turns and stays engaging throughout despite its long runtime, though the background music feels distracting at times.
In this piece, I will take a deep dive into the complete plot of the movie, explaining exactly what happens at the end. Please note: the article contains major spoilers. Reader discretion is advised.
Tu Yaa Main (2026) Plot Summary & Movie Synopsis:
What happens in the movie ‘Tu Yaa Main’?
Tu Yaa Main follows the story of two very different people whose lives cross paths in a way that slowly pulls them closer, before throwing them into a situation neither of them could have ever imagined. The film begins by introducing Maruti, an aspiring rapper who comes from Nallasopara. He is someone who dreams big, even though his surroundings are modest and his life is far from glamorous. Music is his escape, and he is constantly trying to find ways to make his voice heard. On the other side, we meet a free-spirited Avani, also known as Ms Vanity. She is a popular influencer on a social media platform called Picsta. Her life is completely different from Maruti’s. She lives in a massive mansion in South Bombay, surrounded by luxury, attention, and a lifestyle that most people only see on screens.
Their worlds collide in a series of unexpected meetings. At first, it feels casual and a bit accidental, but there is a spark between them that is hard to ignore. Maruti is drawn to her charm and confidence, while Avani seems intrigued by his raw honesty and grounded personality. Over time, their interactions become more frequent, and Avani eventually agrees to collaborate with him on making reels. This collaboration brings them even closer, as they start spending more time together. As their bond grows, Maruti decides to take Avani to Nallasopara. He wants her to experience his reality, which is very different from her own. He introduces her to what he calls the 10×10 way of living, which reflects the small, cramped spaces that define life in his area.
What happens between Avani and Maruti?
For Avani, who is used to wide open spaces and luxury, this is a completely new experience. But instead of rejecting it, she embraces it in her own way. She lives freely, enjoying the simplicity of Maruti’s world. However, not everyone around Avani is comfortable with this connection. Her sister and her friends are constantly worried about her. They do not trust Maruti, and their concerns are not just about his intentions but also about his background. There is a clear sense of discrimination in how they see him. To them, he does not belong in Avani’s life, and they make that quite obvious.

Despite all this, Maruti and Avani continue to grow closer. They begin to open up to each other in ways they have not done with anyone else. Maruti shares the pain of his past, talking about how his father left him when he was just a child to start a new family somewhere else. This abandonment has stayed with him and has shaped the way he sees relationships and responsibility.
Avani also shares her own trauma. She talks about the tragic accident that took the lives of her parents. They drowned in a car accident, and she was the only one who survived. This event has left a deep impact on her, even though she tries to live her life as freely as possible. These shared moments of vulnerability bring them even closer, and even though their feelings for each other are clear, they choose to keep things casual. Both of them are ambitious, and neither of them wants to feel tied down, so they just enjoy each other’s company without labelling their relationship.
Why does Avani leave her house?
Things take a sudden turn when Avani finds out that she is pregnant with Maruti’s child, and this changes everything. The situation becomes even more complicated when her assistant accidentally reveals this information to her sister. This leads to pressure and constant questioning from her family. To escape all of this, Avani decides to move in with Maruti. During this time, Avani is faced with suggestions from her friends and family about ending the pregnancy. However, she avoids these conversations and does not give a clear answer. It becomes evident that she is struggling internally, trying to figure out what she really wants. Maruti, on the other hand, is dealing with his own fears. The idea of starting a family scares him, especially because of his past. He worries that he might end up like his father, or that he might have to give up his dreams.
In the middle of all this emotional chaos, Avani decides that she needs a break. She chooses to spend a few days at her farmhouse in Goa, hoping to get away from everything and clear her mind. Maruti accompanies her on this trip, and it seems like a chance for both of them to step away from their problems, even if only for a short while. However, their journey does not go as planned. On the way, Maruti’s bike breaks down, leaving them stranded. They are then helped by a passing cop, who offers to escort them to a nearby scuba diving club. Since they have no other option, they decide to stay there for the night. At the club, they learn that the scuba pool is facing technical issues, and the place is being ordered to shut down by the authorities.
Can Avani escape the empty pool?
The following day, things quickly take a turn. Maruti goes out to fix his bike, leaving Avani behind at the club. She decides to relax near the pool with her headphones on, accompanied by her dog, Popo. She is completely unaware of the danger that is about to unfold. Due to the technical issues with the pool’s system, the water suddenly starts draining out of the nearly 20-foot-deep scuba diving pool. Avani finds herself trapped inside as the water level drops, leaving her stuck with no easy way out. She starts screaming for help, but the club is empty. The workers have already left, and there is no one around to hear her.
Desperate to escape, Avani tries to think of a solution. She manages to tie together a few items to create a makeshift rope. Her goal is to reach her phone and call for help. But just as she is about to succeed, a wooden sun lounger falls into the pool and hits her on the head. The impact leaves her unconscious, lying in a pool of her own blood. Meanwhile, Maruti returns to the club and notices Popo barking loudly near the pool. Sensing that something is wrong, he rushes over and sees Avani lying still at the bottom. Panic sets in as he realises there is no safe way to get down. The only option is an unstable steel ladder. Without thinking too much, he climbs down, trying to reach her. But the ladder breaks, and he falls into the empty pool, injuring his shoulder in the process.
Tu Yaa Main (2026) Movie Ending Explained:
Why doesn’t the crocodile attack Avani and Maruti?
Now both of them are trapped, injured, and alone. Just when it seems like things cannot get worse, a dangerous reptile enters the pool through the drainage hole. It is a crocodile, and its presence turns their already dire situation into a fight for survival. At first, Avani and Maruti try to defend themselves using the wooden sun lounger. They attempt to scare the crocodile away, and after a brief struggle, it retreats and settles at a distance. After some time, they realise that the crocodile is not attacking them aggressively, and the reason behind this is that it lays eggs, explaining the behaviour.

Hours pass, and the crocodile begins to show signs of hunger. It wakes up at intervals, posing a constant threat. Avani and Maruti remain alert, trying to protect themselves while also looking for a way to escape. At one point, they manage to push the crocodile back into the drainage hole. For a brief moment, it feels like they might have found a way out, but it is only a short-lived hope. The crocodile returns, this time entering through the main gate, proving that blocking the drainage is not enough. Instead, it becomes clear that the drainage might actually be their only possible escape route.
Does Avani find a way out?
The situation becomes even more heartbreaking when Popo becomes the crocodile’s prey. This affects Avani deeply, pushing her to act on the dire situation. She decides to explore the drainage system, believing that there might be a way out through it. Since she is the only one who can swim, she takes on this risky task. As she navigates through the drainage, the pool starts filling up again due to rainwater. This adds another layer of urgency to their situation. While exploring, Avani discovers another crocodile in the drains, making their situation even more dangerous than before.
Meanwhile, the cop who had helped them earlier returns to the club. He finds Maruti struggling to stay alive in the rising water. Instead of calling for backup, he decides to take matters into his own hands. He ties a rope to his car and attempts to rescue Maruti by entering the pool himself. Unfortunately, his plan fails. The crocodile attacks him and swallows him, dragging both him and the car into the pool. Avani returns from the drainage and helps guide Maruti toward the car. Together, they manage to climb inside it. Inside the vehicle, they find a gun, which brings back painful memories for Avani, reminding her of the past trauma. But this time, she is adamant to save Maruti, no matter what.
Do Avani and Maruti escape the crocodile attack or die?
She uses the gun and fires at the crocodile. However, instead of solving the problem, her actions lead to an explosion that destroys the car. Both of them are thrown back into the water, once again left with no clear way out. Realising that the drainage is their only option, they make a final attempt to escape. They push themselves to the limit, racing against time and the constant threat of the crocodile. During this attempt, Maruti’s leg gets stuck at the exit, causing him to lose consciousness in the water.
Avani refuses to give up and somehow manages to free him. The ending of Tu Yaa Main (2026) shows that Avani comes face-to-face with the crocodile. There is a brief pause, almost like a silent acknowledgement of everything they have been through. Then she turns away and focuses on saving Maruti. She manages to get him to the surface, where he finally starts breathing again. Both of them lie on the ground, exhausted and shaken, trying to process everything that has happened.
