1923 (Season 1) Episode 6 Recap: What lies in Teonna Rainwaterโ€™s future?

Episode 6: One Ocean Closer to Destiny

After escaping her dreadful boarding school, Teonna (Aminah Nieves) meets Hank (Michael Greyeyes), who offers his help so that she can stay safe from the Catholics. To create a disguise, he offers his sonโ€™s old clothes to her and asks her to choose a boyโ€™s name. She jokes about calling herself โ€˜Hank Juniorโ€™ since white men love their names so much that they also give them to their children. Finally, they end up calling her โ€˜Joe.โ€™

Once she is dressed up in her new attire, Hank notes that everything from her old school needs to be burned โ€“ so that there are no traces of her. He recalls the time when he was their prisoner and would read a verse from their bible every day. When their God was angry, he used to turn everything to salt. Hank worries the same will happen with their book. So, Teonna decides to bury it instead.

Meanwhile, as Hank rightly guessed, men sent by the school reach up to Teonnaโ€™s home and threaten her grandmother Issaxche (Amelia Rico). They inform her that Teonna killed two nuns and barged into her home without her permission. But since they cannot find Teonna, they take out their rage on her innocent grandmother. She dies in an instant.

So, he is certain that they will fulfill their duty and save them.

1923 (Season 1) Episode 6

As he expected, two officers soon reached their tugboat and rescued them to theirs. Once the couple reaches a safe space, they try to think of a plan to return to the US since their original one has failed. They discuss it with the captain and mention that they were planning to reach Sueze and then decide their further path to his ranch in Montana. Hearing their story, the captain mentions a practical difficulty in travel, considering Spencer is not a British citizen. Spencer thinks that Alex will be helpful in that regard. However, the officer notes that marriage to gain citizenship is illegal in their country.

Spencer suggests a different solution since they are currently in international waters. He requests that the captain get him and Alex married because assistance in their travel is just a bonus for the love they have for each other. As a result, the couple gets married. The captain makes a thoughtful gesture and offers his wife’s ring tied to his pendant because she cannot find a ring for herself in a box of lost ones. So, in their adventure-filled journey, the couple gets married in a similarly unconventional style.

What decision does Cara take for the Yellowstone ranch?

Unlike his glorious past, Jacob (Harrison Ford) isnโ€™t in his prime condition. Due to the unfortunate attack on their family, he now needs to walk with a cane. While doing so, he discusses the matters related to their ranch with Zane Davis (Brian Geraghty). He hopes to see Spencer back now that Cara (Helen Mirren) has received a response about his travel plan. However, he isnโ€™t ready to ride a horse himself just yet.

In Jacob’s absence, Cara is left to find agents who can take care of their livestock. But she does not receive the same respect or even a dignified response from the men who come there for an interview. One of them, Spur (Chuck Filipov), even calls her incompetent due to her gender. Hearing that, Jack (Darren Mann) becomes enraged and throws him out. Then Clyde (Brian Knowal) arrives and agrees to do the job even if he will need to come every day from afar. He has a past record that they appreciate. He also has a disdain for the city development similar to Cara’s. As a result, he gets appointed without much thought.

However, Cara realizes that they are not getting nearly enough men as they require to do the job, and the time is running out for them. So, she heavyheartedly decides to sell their land for their survival. Expectedly, Jacob gets furious hearing about it. Cara sees it as his urge for vengeance speaking and decides to let him work out his feelings. While he rides out on his horse and feels a sense of euphoria after a while of uninterrupted rest, she feels joy in the new generation of their family seeking pleasure in each otherโ€™s company.

Once his anger cools down, Jacob comes up to Cara and opens up about the reason for his outburst. It is not a desire for vengeance. But he fears that their land will be occupied to be developed as cities, which is something he does not want, and he isnโ€™t sure whether their family will be able to live with it. Jacob wants to save the land for the sake of preservation. The couple shares a tender moment in recognition of their agreement to it.

1923 (Season 1) Episode 6 Recap & Ending Explained

How do Spencer and Alexandra spend their first night as a married couple?

Once Alexandra and Spencer decide to tie knots for their entire lives, they officiate their bond. They marry as impulsively as they have made other decisions in their lives together. Once they exchange vows, they go back to their room and relish their night together. There is still the same childish playfulness in them with a burning desire to explore one another. While submitting to each other, they discuss petty details about their lives.

Alex jokes about Spencer being older than her. He rather thinks that they look the same age. Since she has come from a life in a city full of comfort and privilege, it is natural for her to expect it to be a norm all around the world. However, only then does she learn that she will need to get used to living in a place with no plumbing, electricity, and facilities that her past city life could afford her. For the time being, they choose to embrace one another and spend the night without worrying about the future.
